Hey everyone - judging by the discussion on the forums today, we know you've been watching the site closely today as we've worked to deploy our new site.
Consider it a preview as we've put back the old Revision3 site so that we can take a deeper look under the hood to fix the issues. We don't want to interrupt your experience on Revision3.com, so when we've got the new site stabilized, we'll redeploy and we'll keep you posted on our progress.
so stay tuned as we're sure it will be worth it!
thanks

Any ideas when the new site will be up and fully functional? I saw bits and pieces and it looked pretty nice.

I forget what the new site looked like, but it seemed harder to navigate. Maybe it just needs some getting used to. Hopefully they'll fix in all these login issues I've been having. eg: I tell it took keep me logged in but it didn't.

Well looks like were back to the old... But yeah the new site did seem very bloated and confusing. I like the current one. But thats just me.

Agreed, there needs to be a very clear and easy accessible list of the 5(+/-) latest released shows.
And the links to each of the shows should not be as "toned down".

my issue wasn't that it was hard to navigate, but that I kept trying to move the sections around on the page after I logged in. Like the iGoogle page... But I'd guess there is no chance of Rev3's site working like that, it just seems to me that everything on the new site was out of order.

more design than functionalityI don't think you got a particularly good taste of the new sire due to the launch glitches. Navigation and functionality in the new site are really quite good. It is not a cookie cutter wordpress blog page, and a lot of thought was obviously put into layout and navigation.
One thing that bothered me was the "blank hole" to the right of the Latest Forum entries ... then I saw via a screenshot that it was an ad for another Rev3 show. I guess Opera is still blocking that content :)

pretty neato looking, but ,if it still takes as long to load as this one ,that will kill all the excitement. preferably i would like all these pages to instantaneously open.

It's funny you say that. Yesterday when I was trying to get to the home page, one of the things I saw was the Wordpress installation main menu. There is a difference between using Wordpress as the CMS, and the way you skin it. By "not a cookie cutter page" I mean that it is not a standard Wordpress template file. There is nothing wrong with using Wordpress in the background.

What he said. It looked and worked great. might have been a little stunted by the problems, but it was obviously a lot better looking, and really easy to navigate.

I love the new site design, it just bothers me that I can't see a list of recently released shows, right on the front page. Other than that though, it is better in every way.

I like the new design but where has the list of the shows gone that shows what the latest episode is on the main page, i dont want to have to click through that crappy 1,2,3,4 or go to the individual show page to see whats out, i want the list back.
Also why doesnt my forum login work on the main page of the site, i dont want to have to have two seperate logins.

We're working on a "latest episodes" listing for the homepage, so stay tuned on that.
As far as your login - your forum login *should* work on the homepage, you don't need 2 logins - it may be a cookie/cache issue- it would help to clear your cookies and cache and restart your browser. if you have more issues, please email support AT revision3.com and we'll do our best to help troubleshoot the issue

I just hate hate hate hate hate the new design
What i hate:
list of recently released shows
i don't know why, but i feel lost on the page
bad rounded corners, that don't get along with the background (upper left corner)
fugly pixeled or bad resized pictures
Please make it better. I really liked the old design.
I hope this first impression will change with time and some improvements.
*continues hatred* :D
I thought Revision3 is a professional business.

Ok, keep in mind that I have not read every single post here so forgive me if I repeat something someone has already said.
Overall I think the layout for the site is a little clunky. Remember, a design looses its appeal when you force the viewer to hunt for something. Stick with the KISS way, and you'll never fail. For example, the Tekzilla page. It has daily and weekly episodes. While the weekly episodes are easy to find, the daily episodes aren't as obvious. The previous design was very easy to navigate, and users had no problem finding episodes.
I don't really mind the updated graphics, but you should really stick to a layout that really works.

I really like the new site. And I actually have no problem navigating or finding what I am looking for. I like the separation of Tekzilla and Tekzilla daily.

I too felt a bit lost when I saw the new design, but I think much of that may be the lack of recently released shows, I will probably not feel _as_ lost when you add that.
Here are my other criticisms though:
The number of clicks required to download the latest episode of Tekzilla was doubled. 4 instead of 2.
I didn't even know that the latest episode of Tekzilla was released, as it is listed under 'Upcoming Show Releases' - though my guess is that this is related to the 'recently released shows' thing you already are working on?
The embedded player will not play with Gnash. The one on the old design did.

I'll hold judgment until some of the bugs are sorted.
All I will say is, from the e-mail that Jim sent out, he said they wanted new users to the site. Well, you best do some basic testing yourself. I had a quick play around, and found multiple issues, excluding all design problems. For one a lot of links are screwed. If you click on a show, then view the presenter profile, external links seem shot. Such as Jeff's, http://revision3.com/www.veryangryneighbors.com/ obviously shouldn't have rev3 at the start... Take this out, and it will actually take you to http://www.veryangryneighbors.com
I understand that it seems the fashion to get ideas out there fast, and then fix any problems after. But this falls very short for me. It looks piss poor, and functions similarly. And why take a month subscription from me, and then tell me the next day that you are stopping this for a while, and all early releases have stopped. So I get nothing for my support this month? Oh I get this crappy site, cheers…

@cabster21
Sites get updated, designs are tried and tested, bugs are found and worked on and worked out. Thats always how these things go and this is fairly major update besides.
I hope they get functionality back pretty soon myself but what odds, its all free content now, I can wait and when the waiting is over Revision3's site should be pretty awesome.
As for your payment, it has not gone to waste as its still supporting Rev3, after all thats what paying was all about along with the perk of an early preview, and with the help of the everyone else who supported the company now everyone gets all content when its released. :D

Thanks, but this isn't a new problem with the new site. I've never been able to stay logged in to either the main site or the forums for more than an hour - a couple hours max.

I did say that in my post. But many of these a very basic. You do not need to upload a site to find these simple errors. Simply test in browsers would sport many of these errors. I could understand if some thought had gone into the site, but it looks very basic to me. Which is fine, but if you do basic simple things, you must do them well.

This site is just ... well terrible. Sorry its just useless. Nothing i came to the old site to see is here.... and the blog on the main page instead of a list of current episodes is retarded. Who reads the friggin blog?? Sorry guys this new page is a big miss.

It's no wonder the site is slow. All of the photos on the show pages are 1280x720. They are just resized using html. So everyone that visits each show page has to load these huge images. I can't believe something like that wasn't found in testing.
