Hey guys, after hearing about Munchkin on the show, I picked it up this Christmas and am now hooked on it! :)

I now want to pick up an expansion, and I'm not sure which one to get... do I simply get the next one "Unnatural Axe", or go for one that adds more to the gameplay by getting "The Need for Steed" or "De-Ranged"?

Do you guys have any of the expansions? Which are your favorites?

Thanks for the info guys... keep it RAD!!

i second that question! I got Munchkin for christmas as well (it's AMAZING!)

BUT.... I don't know if it's more worth it to start expanding upon Munchkin or if I should by space munchkin and give that one a try too.

You really can't go wrong any way you go. We didn't even start with the original Munchkin. We played Star Munchkin first, then proceeded to buy and play all of the other styles, leaving OG and all its expansions for last. Try an expansion, or go to a wholly different setting, whatever strikes your fancy. These games are a blast!

I used to be a manager with Borders and we had a decent RPG section, but I had never heard of Munchkin. But I was back in the store the other day and there were several varieties on the shelf. Clearly there are some buyers back in Ann Arbor who are TRS fans!!! :D

On a similar note, when I saw the package and saw that it was from Steve Jackson, it spurred a memory from my youth. He is the same guy who did Car Wars which several friends and I used to play alll the time in jr high. Any one else remember that one???

My personal favourite is Munchkin: Impossible because I'm an espionage fan from way back, but as everyone has said, they're all good. Basically, pick a genre which appeals to you and go from there.

The most recent set, from memory, is The Good, The Bad, and The Munchkin.

(Don't forget, all the sets are interchangeable (with a little tweaking), so don't be afraid to just buy them all and have a massive game with your friends.)

I got Munchkin at Christmas too, but not had chance to play it yet, having looked through the cards though, it looks great fun.

I'm temped by the expansions too :)

So what is this exactly, a card game? Or a video game?

Has anyone played the Munchkin d20 game? If not, do yourself a favor and pick it up. Even without playing the actual game, just reading through the Munchkin PHB, DMG, and monster manual is worth the price. They are pretty cheap, as the books are pretty small, just meant to be modifiers to the 3rd edition books.

I have the original Munchkin as well as all the expansion sets minus De-ranged. The one that adds in the extra races is really good. I think that's Unnatural Axe. The only problem with getting a lot of expansions is the deck becomes huge and becomes really hard to shuffle. Star Munchkin is really good, I wasn't a big fan of Munchkin Bites. But my suggestion is to go for the expansion to start with.

They are all card games, the basic set parodying DnD, the expansion sets parody a whole range of other gaming products and genres.

My girlfriend got it for me last semester for college. My friends and I have about 6 different sets between us. We keep going back and playing my original version though with The Need for Steed expansion pack. You cannot really go wrong with any of them, but I recommend the original.

I haven't played munchkin a lot, but I'd say pick up Munchkin Cthulhu just for it's catch-phrase:

"Kill the monsters. Steal the treasure. Stab your buddy and GO MAD!!!"
