Just got back from Cloverfield, and it was one of the most intense movies (from an action/horror movie standpoint) I've seen in a very long time.
Anyone else seen it? What do you guys think.
And a side note: Although the camera motion didn't mess with me, my friends had difficulty dealing with it. Might want to keep that in mind before seeing it.

Argh, I hope I get to see it this weekend. If not, I know I'm going to be spoiled before I do get another chance.
Is the camera motion really that bad? I think I can handle it, but I know my friends had troubles with Bourne's shaky cam.

Like I said, I had no troubles with it. One guy with us said after like 5 minutes he was used to it. The other had to keep looking at the ceiling to re-orientate himself.

RottenTomatoes.com has it at 76%, up from 50% a day and a half ago.
I'm really looking forward to it.
Yeah, I just got back from seeing it.
AWESOME movie. Great acting, the "holy f-ck, we're going to die" emotion was really felt :p.
But yeah, definitely recommend this one, make sure you see it at the movies for a full experience. Also, pay close attention to the VERY last scene. It's easily missed, but there's an important shot.

I've hated the shaky camera since its inception, but it seems to be all the rage now. For this type of movie its OK, but when a normal movie suddenly goes shaky to convey action, it just pisses me off.
Otherwise, i thought it was a great film, but i couldn't help but feel cheated after walking out. The movie does away with allot of the plot devices people complain about in movies, which is good. At the same time though, it skips out on allot of stuff I expect to see.

Why don't we discuss in the original Cloverfield thread?
Anyway, it's definitely one of the best monster movie I've ever seen. What makes Cloverfield outstanding is the experience, I just feel like I was in the ruined NYC. I watched it twice and it still blew me away. They want to reinvent the monster genre and they did it very well.
Don't expect to find out too much about the monster. As it's a "documentary" shot by ordinary people, It doesn't make sense if the movie explains too much.
I'm fine with the shaky camera (Sometimes I get motion sickness when playing FPS), but don't sit in the front row is my advice.
p.s. The strange voice after credit and the non-English speaking guy came to Hud...I can't get them out of my mind

yeah just watched the movie. an excellent monster flick, but nothing more. and i guess it never really tried to offer anything more, but i was expecting more. i can't help it, the hype surrounding the movie was insane. the viral marketing, hints and clues. i hoped for all of that to come full circle, but after watching the movie, i realized there was no circle in the first place.
btw, for anyone planning to watch cloverfield and somehow didn't watch the trailer... DON'T! it's horrible in a sense where it gives away too much of the movie.

I would go see it but the shaky cam thing just makes me nauseous and pisses me off at the same time. It's ok one in a while but it usually just feels like a gimmick and since my motion sickness can't handle it anyway...
Oh well.:(

I think I missed whatever you're talking about, what is it?
