Hey guys,

So I was thinking....I really liked the year wrap-up episode...and I was trying to figure out why (aside from...you know...jeff,dan, and alex's banter). And what I came up with is that I really like seeing things ranked.

What do you guys think? I didn't post this in the suggestions thread cause I wanted to hear what the rest of the fans had to say. What do you guys think about rankings? Do you find them helpful or trite? What would you think about seeing things ranked in each episode of TRS?

EDIT: So I guess I wasn't clear. Anyways, I agree that there should be NO rating system (thumbs ups, stars, x/10)...BUT, I do think it would be cool to see them rank the importance or necessity of each item at the end of the show. Since I have very little money or even time, I would like to hear what they think are the most important things to check out of the stuff they mentioned on the show each week. Like see this movie first, then check out this game, and then watch this show, and don't play this game. Just like an ending wrap up to lay out everything they covered for those of us who don't have an opportunity to see, watch, play it all.

Ranking = Fail.

TRS isn't about putting a rank on something. They've mentioned it before.

When it becomes Ranks it looses from the show itself. My suggestion is before you watch the show goto rottentomatoes.com check there rating on the movie. Games u can goto IGN.com etc.....

TRS is like hanging out with friends talking about a movie.

Jeff went on an entire rant about this just a few episodes ago. Verdict: trite and pointless.

Not a rating system. A simple ranking. I think a rating system would be stupid which is like X/10 or whatever...I agree with Jeff on that.

But I think a simple rank at the end of the show would be cool. Since I have very little time or money to check everything out they mention on the show, I would be interested to see what they recommend someone check out first. Like check out this game first, then see this movie, and then don't watch this show.

I'll edit the first post to make it more clear. But a rank for the weeks items, not a rating system.

Don't they do that already? They say whether its good or bad or somewhere in between. There's no need for an X-Play style recap of things that just occurred 5 minutes ago. If anything, they'd want you to think for yourself and find things that YOU like.

Yeah, I think they're just helping you find stuff, and it's up to you if you put it on your radar or not. I think the ranking should be saved for extra special occasions like the end of year episodes.

I think there should be a loose rating system. It shouldn't have any emphasis on the show, and not to compare one game's rating to another. Just so that there is some sort of archive of their opinions more efficient than looking up what episode they covered something in, downloading it, and searching it out. It also allow them to toss up their opinion on the site for something they've seen/played/read but don't want to waste show time on. I completely understand their reasons for not using ratings on the show, but I think ratings on their site would be cool.

Skin, are you talking about an archival database of thier opinions? If you are, I don't think that's such a bad idea. It could be a simple page of all of their rankings: good, bad, or ugly (middle), divided by category and sorted by date. Of course, this will have to be a fan endeavor to start with, but I don't see any reason for it not to be integrated into their main site after completion and implementation.

Arbitrary rankings are so far from the spirit of TRS, I can't even express it.

You listen to their commentary and sometimes they don't even agree among themselves. Rankings would also serve to bait trolls and fuel flame wars.

Rankings are not Totally Rad.

i'd just like to point out that by having a "ranking" you are having a "ranking" systerm. otherwise any ''ranking'' given would make no sense whatso ever. if you don't like that idea of some type of systerm then you need to give up the idea of a ''ranking'
