First several minutes are about weight loss. I lost 110 pounds last year, and barely 2 so far this year. Fail.

Betcha they won't want to drink as much next month. Their tolerance will be lower.

I don't think you "lose" tolerance. I think tolerance is a state of mind. Besides, most people who are easy drunks are either light-weights or acting out and using the booze as an excuse.

I didn't even notice the episode was out. I thought it would show the latest episode on the front page or something. Anyways, downloading now. PS Is there any torrents for this episode? I'd prefer to download this show via torrent than http. I sometimes loose my internet connection, and I never found a good, spyware free download manager yet.

That James guy who came out to MacWorld thinking there was going to be a live Diggnation was just "featured" on episode 123 (http://www.pixelcorps.tv/macbreak123) of MacBreak.

The body does have a tolerance level that can be affected by not having the substance. Same thing with medications, like Tylenol. Take it a lot and you need more for the same effect. Cut it out and you need less after a while.

Hmm, doses of analgesics are usually measured in milligrams. A typical drinking binge is what? Quarts? I don't buy that you become less sensitive to that. I think you learn to carry yourself better. But, I'm not a doctor... at least, not that kind.

I have mentioned some stuff on my pownce about this whole not drinking issue but then something hit me. A Diggnation experiment for a good cause.

What about extending the bet to a whole new level. Here are the rules and ideas of my little bet extension.

1. Set up a website with 2 donation links one for drinking after a certain date and one for no drinking until July 4. Feb 20th would be a great stopping point as they could announce the winner at the live show making for a fun crowd reaction :D.

2. Have the fans of Diggnation donate to what they think Kevin and Alex should do. I feel with the audience this big and the kicker at the end these numbers money wise would make it worth it.

3. Which ever side is bigger at the end Kevin and Alex not only do but also split the cash of that side between each other. The other side gets donated to a good charity so there is also a philanthropic angle to the whole thing as well so the people who donate can feel good no matter what happens. Maybe a nice tech charity like Andy Walker's Little Geeks.

What's everyone think. I really dig these social media experiments like this and it could be fun.

Not drinking doesn't make you not want to drink as much. Ask any recovering alcoholic. Sure, you may get drunk quicker because your body returns to a more normal state, but once it's back in your system, you start building your tolerance all over again. Alcohol in moderation isn't that bad for you.

Kevin. have that shot for every year you've been born, it's a good idea. Actually, have a lot more than that. If it were a shot for every year you've been alive, that would be different.
please tell me if you were born more than once?

Any liver damage done (until it heals) by excessive alcohol use lowers the ability to get it out of the bloodstream.
Anyone w/ a link to the powerdrink ad (for download not just webviewing)?

You don't need to join Jenny Craig to get thin. Just STOP EATING. Drink nothign but water, and eat NOTHING. That's what I would do if I became overweight.

Lefsez (http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/index.php/archives/2008/01/18/sales-week-ending-11308/) begs to differ:

"2. Radiohead "In Rainbows"

Sales this week: 68,784
Percentage change: -44%
Weeks on: 3
Cume: 199,949

I’m coming to hate Radiohead. Not for their music, but for their business policies.

So they do the tip jar thing, and then they say it wasn’t a real release, it was just a way to deal with leaks, that it was just an ad for the CD.

Don’t ask me about the idiots buying this online (and they are idiots, the same ones you’re marketing to a year into a project, casual fans/inactive music buyers who are just getting the word when true fans are burned out and yearning for new material), at this point we can say the CD is a dud. Last time around they sold 300,000 the first week out. This drop far exceeds that in the marketplace in general..."

Not, way back in 2004 Sony made the Vaio X505, .75 in (vs. .76in) weighting only 1.85 lb. Although the Mac book does have a bigger h/d and more ram, the Vaio X505 was made 4 years ago.
