I’ve been watching the show for a while(The Totally RAD Show that is), and I’m starting to wonder...does no one watch "The Wire"

I might just be a little retarded but I think this is some of the best TV I’ve ever seen.

Feel free to flame, or agree but I think everyone should watch the 3 episodes released of season 5 and report back what you think. Although you may be a little lost because this season is somewhat dependant on season 4 it is still a great show that I love.

PS please don’t flame me if this has already been discussed, as you can tell I just joined the forums and only did a quick search on "the wire" and it came back with no threads. :)

The Wire is something I've been wanting to get into for a while now, and it's on my Zip.ca queue (Canadian Netflix). I've heard the show is phenominal, so no I don't think you're retarded at all. If it's anything up to the quality of The Shield in terms of story and production values I'll be very satisfied.

This show is great. It's the only show I've ever heard of that is constantly reviewed in the top 10 every year and yet gets no emmy nominations AND no viewers. Last season was the best season of any television show I've ever seen.

But, yeah, no one watches. Not even other actors/writers/producers, otherwise it would be getting emmy nods. It's sad but true. Awesome show!

Edit: One Emmy nod; that was in 2005. Wow.

I have no doubt that it's up to the quality of the shield in story and production. It's the best show i have ever seen by far. There are some other threads that talk abotu the wire but maybe only one or two others about The Wire.

Honestly...best freaking show ever...

And anyone who watches a full season and doesn't think so ...well might not need too much a flame. but if you watch and finish season 4 and you don't think so, then you're an idiot.

I agree. And to be honest, I think putting this show in the same category as The Shield is very wrong. The character development in this show is so rich and I like how this show doesn't use the same cheap melodramatic tricks that The Shield uses.

I highly recommend this show. But be warned, it isn't for those that like crazy fast pace. This is the "thinkers" version of the Shield.

You are so right about that. Well about all the compliments towards The Wire. I don't know what kid of tricks The Shield uses. But i can't imagine any other show being of the same caliber that The Wire is.

It is definitely a thinker's show. Nothing is spoon fed to you. There is an entire lingo that all the different institutions(law enforcement, high politics, drug trade) use. And everything is connected, but you put the pieces together yourself. blargh...brilliant.

Well said mrhaines. The Wire is the best show ever, but I think a lot of people just aren't patient enough, or they want flashiness instead of substance.

Man I will definitely check this show out. I have been hearing great things for MONTHS.
