DIGGNATION in St. Louis pre-get-together...

Hey guys. I thought I might as well start a thread for this, since we are discussing it under another topic...just want to let everyone know what is going on so we all have a solid chance of meeing one another.

I'm organizing a meeting spot for all of us that are going to the live diggnation in st. louis. We had a lot of participants on different sites who posted on the threads, so thanks abunch!

So to kind of get an idea of where I need to make reservations and different things like that, send me an email letting me know if you are going, and I will start to compile some sort of list. It should make it a pretty smooth deal.

Also, if you have any suggestions of the place, go ahead and let me know. This should be awesome dudes, and who knows, the diggnation boys themselves just may stop by.

Kind of give everyone a chance to share their opinions to other diggers. It should be loads of fun, and get everyone stoked for the night.

Based on the pre-party before the London show, I'd say you'll have a better response and a better time if you keep it more laid back. Just have a few beers and let people mingle, also more chance of the guys showing up. It'll be better than trying to host your own diggnation around a table in a bar, I reckon that will be too awkward.

I'd say just forget that, hook up, have few drinks, mingle and chat with different people, then rock the show.

I just think most people would prefer just to kick back and have a quick drink then head to the show, with maybe a bit of polite/friendly chat.

If you wanted to, you could bring your laptop, and just walk up to people around the bar asking them their views on the top digg stories, if you want that angle, but personally, I watch Diggnation and like the guy's views, but I don't really have any opinions on a lot of their stories.

Also remember it will be a bunch of strangers, and geeks are often not famed for their social skills lol, I just think what you propose will be a bit awkward and put people off coming as it sounds too formal.

Have a meet up in a bar, and let people do their own thing I say!!

If you want, ill design a "digg" button that looks like a name tag, then we can all put our digg username / real name so we can meet some people etc.

then it'd be a good idea to have a laptop around, so we can possibly add some friends on digg, to keep in touch etc.

the problem with stl is that all of the separate areas are so separate
the loop neighborhood seems the most viable with venues nearby:
pageant/washu/blueberryhill/etc

when i go out its south city or the loop, but its too easy to max. cap. these bars.. :\

alot of your emails have inquired about what hotels would be good in the area...when we find out the venue, if I were you, I'd mapquest your directions, there are usually a nice dropdown of hotels that are near in the area.

Just like picking a hotel, we should probably wait until the venue is known before picking our pre-party spot. If the show IS at the Pageant (oh please, oh please, oh please...), then the Halo Bar kinda lends itself to the purpose, don't ya think? Or if we want to accomodate the minors, there's everything else in the Loop - BlueHill, Cicero's... OK, mostly just those two. If they pick a place in the county I'll be so disappointed.

Is there any way to get the message to them about the Pagaent?

The world doesn't cater to me, but a corporation like Revision3 with customers, of which I am one, can absolutely cater to its fans. And speaking of rights, I definitely have the right to request allowing in those between 18 and 21. As for obtaining an ID, I'm working on it, and as for lowering the drinking age, there is an approved ballot initiative to place a measure on the November ballot to lower the drinking age of Missouri to 18. Of course, by November the Diggnation even will be lower, and I'll be 21, so for now I guess you'll have to put up with my intelligent and incredibly well-worded contentions. Sorry ;-)

If so, they'd be sitting there thinking, "Hmmm, this kid talking about getting fake ID has such an excellent point. Fuck our liability, let's let in all the kids." But that's not happening. Your logic, or whatever you want to call it, isn't good enough to overcome law, and you are clearly immature enough to think the law should be ignored so you can see a taping.

You have the right to REQUEST that they host the taping in a way that minors can attend, but they are not obligated to allow minors. Therefore you do not have the right to actually be there.

They don't have to go to St. Louis at all. But they are. Nothing is stopping you from going and hanging out outside with other fans too young to go inside. Wait outside, hang out and bitch with the others, which may end up being fun, and I'm sure they'll make their way outside and hang out with you too.

Diggnation doesn't AIM for minors to be fans. Porn doesn't aim for minors to be fans either, but it happens. Anything aimed at adults will have some minors who are fans. If these industries that inadvertently end up with minors as fans start to cater to minors, then the adult fan base would taper off. If you want something aimed at kids, go watch Nickelodeon and leave the adults to their adult programming.

You do realize that obtaining a fake ID in Missouri is a felony? Even if you are using it to secure alcohol?

Yet again you fail to explain how every other venue that allows minors in yet still serves alcohol legally justifies their actions. And I'm NOT saying that just because I want it to be this way means they're obligated to listen to me. I am requesting it. How do you have a problem with that?
