My thoughts on the show

Just watched this as I spotted the preview graphic on the latest Gazzete.

I thought it was a great idea but it didnt quite hit the mark, and Im by no means someone who "knows about this" but I do have some comments on things from a viewers point of view.

1. The repeating show ident thats placed on the TV screen to the right doesnt loop propely and when it flicks back to the start drew my attention away from the presenter.

2. The colour balance seemed to be a little off. When the presenter was talking she was lit quite coldly whereas the youtube clips etc were far warmer. It made her look quite cold and with the jacket she could be Terminator 4 :) I've been watching a log of DigitalJuiceTV shows and they are very bright and colourful. I noticed the make up she was wearing tended to crack on her forehead a lot too which was more apparent with the colour balance.

3. As mentioned in another thread some background music would keep things running along quite nicely.

4. The presenter didnt appear as in to it all as hosts on other shows, it felt like she didnt have any input to the script and was just reciting the lines. She didnt look happy or like she was enjoying herself, even in the forced humour parks (lighter etc).

it was way too scripted, at least it felt like it. what makes DiggNation so great is that Alex and Kevin sit on a couch and laugh about stuff and talk about it. the digg reel is just the videos I could go watch on digg with pointless talking in between.

maybe it's the fact i've never connected with Corbin and don't really see how she fits in with Kevin Rose and Patrick Norton, because she really isn't on that level. I like her but as far as getting tech advice from, I'd rather have someone I trust. but even her commentary or reading comments on digg over the videos, i'd rather she actually write her own comments and summarize the general discussion on the video not just single quotes, it shouldn't sound like the pointless witty banter of a nightly news cast (diggnation ep 132)

i'm not trying to just rip Corbin or the digg reel, i'm just pointing out how I, a fan of Rev3, think this totally missed the mark and is a waste of time and talent.

I might sound like another ZDtv/Techtv geek cropping up but hear me out first. This show has lots of merit, but it seems like Jessica Corbin was trying to play two different roles. One of serious anchor and the other as the dry wit comedic side kick to the anchor. I think this show could be better if it was done like Internet Tonight was done on ZDtv. They went around the net finding funny/weird/strange/off the wall sites and did a little 1 minute spiel about them. To me, just one man, this is what The Digg Reel is supposed to be, but didn't because it doesn't have enough people. Just a thought.

I like how everyone feels the need to create there own thread, about their views..... I think I read everyone of the these thoughts of the show on one of the other 10,000 My thoughts/suggestions for the show. lol

I just think Jessica Corbin needs another person there with her. She's at her best when she's bantering with other people and laughing her ass off. It'd be great if the clips were set up like they are on diggnation where the hosts are possibly seeing the clips for the first time and then give reactions.

Most people reading from scripts these days, means no passion in the show. Jess comes to work, reads the script and leaves. Seems like shes not interested at all like, because shes reading from the script. But i guess she has to, from all the comments, she cant memorise them.

Like others said. Wouldn't hurt to have someone with her, just to see how it goes etc..

I tried to like it I really did, but everything about it is either bad or rip off. I'll subscribe to it on iTunes for now, and maybe give it a few episodes to clean up it's act. It just seems like we don't need another Diggnation. Honestly, I could just go to Digg.com.

like Gooie said,this isn't nessecary, honestly it could basically just be a top 10 list every week with a comment or two along with a link.

the number one flaw ,imo, is the fact the reel isn't all there. and it ruins the videos, because now I have to go back and watch the whole video, knowing half of the jokes or the surprises.
the urban legend ER video showcases this best.

the second flaw is Corbin.

It almost seemed soulless. With shows like Tekzilla, the hosts merits are based on knowledge/skill of the topic at hand. With the presentation of videos, regurgitated from another site, requires no sort of specialized skill, except of course personality... which Jessica has. I think, as others have said, a co-host would help a lot in the presentation aspect, and a more free-form relaxed environment that displayed the hosts talents better would provide for a much better show. I suppose I've said nothing new, but that's my 2-cents. Good luck Jessica, and I hope you can find benefit from these comments and iron out the kinks in your new show.

I think everyone agrees that beer would help. Diggnation has two dudes drinking beer, maybe Diggreal could have two women drinking beer (or whatever). Since they both spawn from Digg it would work nicely, while still be original.

Not sure I'll continue to check out this show in the future. It is REALLY lacking something.... Feels like its a show we just don't need.

Technically.... Jessica's Mic sounds very echo-y. Is that the studio or just a bad mic? Echo Echo Echo...

Sounds to me like studio echo. She's probably in the same studio that OM films his show.

After watching the second episode, I thought I'd voice my opinion as I really like the idea of the show and hope it continues.

Firstly, the host. Like others have said, it's scripted and has a very cold, boring feel to it. I think most of the shows on Revision 3 have thrived so much because the hosts are free to express their own thoughs, be spontaneous, and just be normal. That gives you a feeling that no other TV show can give you. Also wanna point out that it has nothing to do with Jessica Corbin, because I love watching her on Tekzilla.

Second, the videos aren't full length. I mean...really? I don't want to watch something cut in half, the same way I wouldn't want to watch The Totally Rad Show if it was just bits and clips of it. If I don't like a video, I can just fastfoward and go to the next one.

And last, this being something which all shows on Revision 3 are unfortunatelly victim of, is the release times. Personally, I don't see a reason for them. I doubt anyone goes like "Damn, 4:12 I'm gonna lose the DiggReel!" They obviously don't, because it will be available there one, two, or three hours later. This isn't TV where you must watch for programming schedules so you don't lose your favorite show. This is the internet, where you do things are your own leisure and when it's most convenient. If it's friday morning, and I just happen to have 40 or 50 minutes before I leave for work, I would love to watch Diggnation. If I don't have time, I'll still watch the show later or another day.


And again, these are just my own thoughts. I'm not trying to criticize or speak badly of the show.

So yeah, thank you Revision3 for all the lovely content, please keep it up. :)

Yeah its not really my cup of tea

They need to play the full video (like say if its under 5-6min) because I have already seen it on digg.com so why do I want to watch a show that just basically lists the top ones plays a couple of seconds on them.

Atm It is the same as just going to digg.com.

Yeah would be nice to have someone else there and they discuss it and stuff (like how diggnation is) Maybe have like each host picks there videos that the other host hasn't seen... so their reaction can be seen etc.
