on a laptop?

So my laptop, when i plug headphones into the jack, the audio plays in both my headphones, and out through my laptops built in speakers.

is there a way via software or something in the device manager i can mess with to disable the speakers, but keep the jack working?

(i never use the laptops speakers, its almost 100% headphones, so i dont care if its permanently turned off)

I hate to break it to ya. Your sound card probably generates the audio to your headphones too.

It's odd that using your headphones doesn't mute the internal speakers. I suspect the headphone jack is actually damaged somehow.

Maybe there's a function key that will do what your want, what kind of laptop do you have?

Pull the sound card out and enable Onboard in BIOS if it's currently disabled.

The option to disable/enable onboard sound should be under Advanced Chipset Options or something similar.

Good luck with that... It's a laptop...
