So I have been watching this Packers/Giants game and so far I have seen at least half a dozen trailers and I am wondering who is excited about seeing this flick because I could not care less about the movie and its premise, which seems more appropriate for the Discovery Channel than your local multiplex. I have noticed that the trailer looks like it was cut similarly to the 300 trailer but I am nowhere near as excited about this as I was to see 300.

I loved the teaser that had the world "rewinding" and then went into those snippets from the film with the tribal drums, but the new trailer isn't doing it for me. I doubt I'll see it in the theaters just because I can't afford it, but come DVD release time, I suspect I'll check it out.

Yeah i dont think this will do very good in the box office. The trailer just didnt get me excited to see it. So yeah i won't bother seeing it.

Yeah, trailer wasn't that enticing, I can kinda see the whole storyline already and it puts me off when I do that XD
But I would be interested in seeing all the Pleistocene animals, but that's just because I'm a Geology / Paleontology freak :P

I love this kind of stuff so I'll go see it whether it's good or not. Edit: "This kind of stuff" = animals I can't see because they are extinct.
As long as they show plenty of animals I'll be happy.

Honestly, it just seems like another "epic" movie that is coming out because of the success of Lord of the Rings. (ie. King Arthur, Kingdom of Heaven, etc)

Well if it's that case they're a little late to the party. I think it's more along the lines of this and that viking movie, in addition to Beowulf, trying to make a new trend....I don't think it's working.

But to me, there is nothing new in the least about this film. It is not visually interesting in the way 300 was and it is not a MoCap movie like Beowulf. It is just live action with some CGI critters. So what? What is the appeal here? Do I really care about what was like for a mammoth hunter 12,000 years ago? Not really. Not me at least.

I predict it will make $10,000.

I want to see it because it reminds me of an obscure series of novels written by one Piers Anthony which focused around the lives of people through different eras of time dating back to the hominids (homo erectus and all that jazz). Unfortunately I think it'll come off a little bit too much like Pathfinder, but I can hope it turns out like Apocalypto.

Wasn't that "Isle of Man?"

The idea of a civilization before our oldest known start is compelling in an intellectual way. Kinda like the whole Atlantis thing.
I can't articulate why, but there is something about this movie, based on the trailers, that says, "Flop." I'll definitely catch it on DVD but I'm guessing that I won't be seeing it in the theatre.

I liked Pathfinder, and Beowulf and even The Scorpion King (mainly because I can detatch the critical thinking part of my brain from the part that allows me to enjoy things) - I get the feeling I'll be enjoying this.
And not just because it has a herd of mammoths stampeding down the side of a pyramid :D

I think Harry Harrison's West of Eden series did this concept the best justice, this movie just looks uber hokey... but that's sitting this side of the trailer... It would be nice if the movie proved me wrong.
