What are your geek comfort foods? What do you eat to emphasize your extra large geek waist?
One thing I love to make is a can of black beans with some Adobo (without pepper) and dehydrated onion bits. I can reach extreme levels of flatulence with that stuff.
Anyone have any good twinky recipes?

At the risk of offending Thunderkitty and his magic ignore button, I'd say that I like to most everything and anything. I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to raiding the pantry.
I do substitute ground turkey when a recipe calls for ground beef. I also know how to make flour tortillas from scratch. The large Texas Chewy kind.

Checkmate, Cal. Checkmate.
My favorite recipe...
Spanish rice.
1.) Long grain white rice fried in oil
2.)Add salt to taste
3.)Add tomato sauce, water, and fresh onion to taste
4.) Boil first, then simmer covered for about 45 minutes.
If it's done right it comes out dry, not soggy. Best to use a cast iron skillet.

I'm a 2minute noodle fan! To spice things up I throw, meat (usually tuna), salt, tomato paste, onions, garlic, eggs and cheese into it! It's delicious, but I would never offer it to anyone as it's kinda weird. I got inspired by the making of, in Spirited away where Myazaki made dinner for the animators and threw a lot of crap with the 2 minute noodles into a bowl.

B) Haven't tried it yet, but the cheese pie from above show looks pretty good.

I eat chicken quesadillas all the time. I don't know how they're supposed to be made, but I just throw some monty jack cheese and colby onto a flour tortilla, some precooked chicken, and salsa. Yeah, it's easy, I'm lazy, but it's cheap as hell, and I live off the stuff.
I just take all the leftovers in the fridge and put them in a bowl in the microwave. I hade hotdog, salad, and noodles with italian dressing. It wasn't all that bad.

CAC is for people who want to make real recipes.
This thread is for people who think the best way to make a party platter is two boxes of Twinkies, two boxes of Ho Hos, and two boxes of King Dongs.
Anyone ever use Marshmallow Fluff as a spread on Twinkies?

A 3 egg omelette w/ onions and cheddar...and optional pepperoni. To substitute hash browns, crumble some Utz potato chips on the omelette.

The least recipe-like thing I make is when I add cheese to a frozen Totino's pizza. Those ****ers are stingy with their damn cheese.
I do the cooked-chicken quesadilla thing too... you are not alone.

Dump some tortilla chips on a microwave safe plate. Put on some chili, salsa or both. Maybe some refried beans. Cover it with some cheese and nuke it until the cheese melts. Yummy, geeky, nachos... Just bring a napkin to keep your keyboard clean.

I always wanted to write a book on 1001 things to do with Ramen. Microwave it for a quick lunch, cook it nomally but spice it up with some sesame oil and tuna, cook just the noodles then throw it in a wok for easy chow mein. The sh*t can be anything :)

Does this truly exist?

Seriously though - does anyone actually like Fritos?? I guess adding chili to them would have to be an improvement.
The reciipe sounds similar to "Fritos Pie (http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1927,148179-249198,00.html)" without the cheese. I think the last line of the recipe is sound advice - stay close to home. :o

Fritos are a gift from the devil to anyone trying to lose weight.Fritos..I love them. So I'm on a diet and my brother had some Fritos Scoops and salsa, I had to make him take them from me. I could not stop
Chili Cheese Fritos? Please, they're part of the reason I'm on the stupid diet. At one point I was downing a bag (and not a little one) a day.
Anyone try BBQ Fritos? I'm so glad you can't find those too much. How about the Fritos Chili Cheese Wrap from Sonic? I don't even have a Sonic in my state. I go on vacation to Florida and one of my wishes is to eat at a Sonic...Fritos Chili Cheese Wrap still haunts my memory two years later.
How about the time I got home and ate an open bag of Fritos. My sister comes home and shouts "You didn't eat those did you?". For whatever reason an argument started between her and my brother prompted her to lick each Frito and put it back in the bag...and you know what? I didn't even barf because I love Fritos.

Something healthy.
In a two-quart microwave-safe container:
4 cups water
1 cup steel-cut oats (organic if you're into that)
some salt, if you like...
nuke at 100% power for 5-minutes
then at 50% power for 30-minutes
Top with brown sugar or whatever.
The could even do this on CAC.

I could not stopI diet periodically. With holiday season coming up, I *should* be dieting now :( ... but anyway ... a relatively low calorie snack is plain corn chips (someone makes these round ones - not sure who) with salsa. Chili is a killer, but most salsas - even store bought ones are something like only 10calories for a 2Tbsp serve. Going by Weight Watchers points, you get a decent sized snack serving of corn chips and salsa for less than 2 points. Salsa is also great with grilled meat, fish, or chicken.

I'm gonna try this, maybe with some fat free refried beans and low-fat cheese. Man, it's the snacky carbs that get me, not the sweets.

Actually, I use lowfat cheese for most cooking - you don't end up with the oil slick in your food.
In case you didn't know, here an explanation of calculating your own WW points (source unknown, I just keep this in an Outlook Note) ...
Believe it or not, the "secret" formula used to work out how many weight watchers points a meal contains is protected by a US patent. Although there are many variations of the formula, here's one that's included in the patent.
One point = (calories/50) + (fat grams/12) - (min{r, 4}/5)
The last part of the formula - min{r, 4} - is equal to the number of grams of dietary fiber or 4, whichever is the smaller number. The formula means that one point is equal to the number of calories in a food serving divided by 50. The value increases by about one point for every 12 grams of fat, and drops by about one point for every five grams of fiber.
In simple terms, total fat becomes a point penalizer, while fiber is a point enhancer.

A friend of mine gave the greatest recipe.
1 Hershey's Chocolate Bar - Almonds optional
1 Cheddar Cheese - any cheddar cheese will do.
Place said cheese on top of said bar, and microwave for 30 seconds or until cheese melts. Don't let the bar melt it's not that good if melted, and ENJOY!!!!!

Kewl token.
I have my little handy points slide ruler (hah, not that I've been really using it lately), and I kinda figured the fiber/fat equation but this is a more precise explanation.
I'm actually actively going to WW meetings here at my job...but I'm falling off the wagon. I really like food and I'm trying to counterbalance my lifestyle with more exercise. It ain't easy.
Yah, low fat cheese is good. NO fat cheese ought to be banned. I think it's made of melted plastic.

It adds a little meaning to what is going on. Worst part for me is when I travel ... living off takeout and restaurants makes it hard to maintain a weight plan.

Yah, low fat cheese is good. NO fat cheese ought to be banned. I think it's made of melted plastic.I heard it was made out of recycled tires. Low fat cheese is great stuff, and doesn't sacrifice much flavour for the benefits.
BTW - Look at the Omega3 diet ... nice, balanced alternative to the WW options ... but you have to like fish for it to work.

This one's for you, iggy. Helps me tons with my diet:
As much plain, non fat yogurt as you wish
As much honey as you like
Somewhere from 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup All Bran brand Bran Buds (not the regular All Bran)
Notes: I first had honey mixed with yogurt in Brazil, and I have never seen it here in the states. These are two healthy foods that were made to go together. The sugar from honey is better than granulated sugar because it isn't processed, plus you get the benefits that come with honey. The yogurt and bran have their own ways of helping out your digestive tract.
If you really want to give your diet a "push" keep two things in mind: There are two kinds of fiber - make sure to get both kinds and fiber helps block the absorbtion of fat, so it kind of cushions your occassional lapses!

Prepare your favorite pasta sauce. Then, prepare the
Spicy Meatballs
1 lb. ground sirloin
1/4 lb. ground lamb
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
1/4 cup grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
2 eggs
1 tablespoon habanero powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
Mix together and shape into meatballs.
In a cast iron skillet, brown the meat balls in olive oil. When browned, simmer in your pasta sauce for 20 minutes.
Now, serve the spicy meatballs over linguini or your favorite pasta. This comes from HERE (http://www.thehotpepper.com/showthread.php?t=891)

that sounds pretty damn good. I'm a big fan of just fruit yogurt mixed with sliced bananas. It's kind of like eating ice cream if you close your eyes...
also from brazil, here is a caipirinha recipe:
1 lime
2 ounces of cachaça
Sugar to taste
it's very simple, but makes one hell of a drink once you're used to them (don't get the ones made in the coconuts off the street). BTW cachaca is just sugar cane rum, so I'm sure any white rum would work.
