Anyone catch this new show on AMC 10pm last night?

It was before the encore season of Mad Men started - of which I am 5 minutes in - looks lame so far (maybe if I were an advertising "insider"...).

Anyway Breaking Bad was kind of interesting, def quirky. Think it has some potential. The lead is the dad from "Malcolm in the Middle".

Wondering what anyone else thinks.

I really liked it. It was different.

I saw the trailer after one of the "Zero Punctuation" reviews, I was looking forward to it saw the encore the other day I gotta say I dig it just with the one episode it's up their with Nip/Tuck for me. I liked how they handled the F-bombs and S-bombs, characters are talking then about 2 seconds of silence I'm like "What ?? do they show the uncut version on the weekends?... cause I'll watch ?" I dig it hope this show gets off the ground :)

apparently, it was shown unedited once, then edited on repeat viewings.

This was a weird show. I don't know what it is but both Mad Men and Breaking Bad seem to be a little off. I hope it gets better though. Also, the muting of curse words is ridiculous. They're cooking methamphetamine and pulling guns but a little "fuck" or "shit" or even "goddamn" is cut out.

"Remember kids, don't curse while you're cooking crystal."

I really enjoyed it. I'm curious where it goes next, unlike a lot of shows.

If they can keep it unexpected, I'll keep watching.

I loved it, it was really different. I also liked that the main character is smart, and they used that from time to time. His love for teaching burst out of him from time to time, I liked that. I also loved how they showed how much he cared for his family, in not just him making meth, but not telling his family about his cancer. And when he took down that punk in the clothing store, that was awesome.

I do hope they keep it uncut and I hope it only gets better from here.

I rather liked the premier. The premise seems solid and could lead to all kinds of entanglements. I think making the brother-in-law a DEA agent raises the stakes unnecessarily without really adding anything to the show. But I'm interested to see what they do with it.

Also I wonder what the writers will do with the cancer plot line. They've given themselves a two year time frame to work in. Not a whole lot of time in TV terms. I suppose they could go the Lost/Battlestar Galactica (first season) compressed timeline. Or they could do the old switch of a misdiagnoses/miracle cure cop-out that TV writers are not above.

The pilot was good enough to justify watching another couple of episodes I think.

i really enjoyed it. The bro-in-law felt a little force, i agree, but they needed a plot device for him to actually see a meth lab. Which would have been hard without the connection. It's a little quirky but lots of fun. Also very well shot. I really felt the emotion in the throwing matches into the pool scene.

Different seems to be the key word to describing Breaking Bad . The man on the edge plot is starting to get a bit played out in my book , but I think this show can pull it off especially if the kind of ending the second episode had is any indication ( hilarious ).

i caught episodes 1 and 2 today and they were fantastic.. i would like to see the uncut episodes because judging from a few edited words and blurred out nudity i have a feeling they might of left out some scenes as well, could be wrong though.

Episode 2 felt like it had gone a bit downhill from episode one. The fact that they advertise it as "A show that recieved three and a half stars" kind of makes me nervous for where this is going.

Brilliant (by the first ep).

I liked it a lot - I always get a kick out of 'Hal'. From the first five minutes of the pilot, I thought it was going to be a nuclear fallout kind of thing. If only Vic could have made a cameo for the brother in law:cool:

I caught about ten seconds of it and it made me want to watch the rest. He was pantsless handing money over to a native american man.

haha, it's funny. between malcolm and this so far, that actor must hold the record for time in tighty whities on tv.

HAHA. That is so true. He's a damn fine actor though. He can do comedy (from Malcolm) and now we see his drama side and he is brilliant.

He was the only good thing about Malcom in the Middle. Glad to see he's even better in this.

So far this is in the top 3 of favorite shows this year. It was nice to see a good original drama show without fluff.

Specially one that is written and shot like it was meant to be shown on HBO or Showtime. I love how they leave in the "fucks" and the nudity and simple mute the sound or blur out the image.

Yeah, between this and Mad Men I'm pretty sure it's time for AMC to drop the movies and start doing some TV shows. ;)

They won't drop movies but they'll make more shows. They have Mad Men and now Breaking Bad... I think in the Fall they'll have a few more dramas.

I don't think that Ep 2 lived up to Ep1. With the guy in the basement, I hope it doesn't turn into an unfunny version of "Ruthless People".

that look of absolute horror on his face at the end of ep2 about the acid in the tub was priceless. i think it fell off a bit but ive found very few shows that are as good as their pilots. It usually takes them a few eps to work back up to it. Still very very optimistic about this show though.

I just saw the first episode and I loved it, I really cared when the prickish student found him cleaning his car, and the matches into the pool..

And if a show can make you care, or feel frustrated for the character in question, then the writers have done their job

This is my new favorite show! I just watched ep6 and am amazed by how the show leaves me wanting more time-and-time again.

Extremely good. I enjoyed Mad Men more, I think, but that could easily change by the end of this season. Cranston is fantastic. Episode two had me worried (it was in my opinion the worst so far) but I'm glad to see things have more than picked up.

I'm just hoping that unlike Mad Men, this actually gets a DVD release.
