just announced. I won't flood the board with the list, but some surprises. In the good way. And Juno, one of the only movies I saw, got plenty of Oscar nods. I'm surprised, since comedy is usually ignored. Funny is only funny to some people sometimes.

Gah, I knew I should have gone to the free preview for Juno on Monday...dammit!

Juno seems to be taking Little Miss Sunshines place from last year. It won't win best picture, and she won't win best actress. It is a really great movie.

I'm pretty pleased with the Best Picture candidates. The only one I haven't seen yet is Atonement, and the other four were among my favorites for the year. I'm pulling for No Country for the Coens, then There Will Be Blood, then Michael Clayton and finally Juno.

I kind of feel like Juno doesn't deserve a nomination. I really liked it, but . . . I dunno. Feels like the Academy is just putting it up there to show how 'hip' they can be.

The guys should discuss the nominees and place Oscar bets on the show.

I think Juno is the potpourri choice. The Academy knows its not going to win, but you like it too much to not put it on the list. And besides, what else could go on there?

I was really surprised. I'm glad to see Juno received a ton of nominations and I'm so glad Once got nominated for best song! It's really such a good movie! I'm surprised The Simpsons wasn't nominated for best animated film (seriously, what is this Surf's Up business?!) and I am very disappointed King of Kong wasn't nominated for best documentary. I hope the academy doesn't give best picture to Atonement. It was good but it wasn't No Country for Old Men good and I've yet to see There Will be Blood so my best picture pick could change in the next week...

All I'm going to say is that ONCE should get the Oscar for original song.

I hope No Country For Old Men wins best picture

yeah but most times when something is nominated more than once in one catagory it cancels it self out...so better odds for "once" to win

True, but remember when Dreamgirls was nominated in that catagory 2-3 times and it lost to that song from An Inconvenient Truth. Anything is possible :D
