I want to ask you Revision3 why you don't have full downloads of your shows. I think you should have an option to download all episodes to date, and have it update each new episode. It would be useful.

What do you think?

I recommend using a program called Miro (www.getmiro.com), with it you can subscribe using the RSS feed or even the Miro link in the subscription option of each shows you like. The program will automaticly download new episodes as they are released and you also have the option to download all the episodes in the feed.

So with one program install, the click of a few buttons and there you go! You have all the past episodes and you'll get the new ones as they arrive.

I feel like I've been talking about that program in most of my posts, but I'll honestly say that I have always refused to install iTunes on my computer. I guess I felt it was so much associated with iPod and buying music from the iTunes Music Store...

So there you have it. Getting full downloads of Rev3 shows seems like an easy thing to do.

Miro uses EXTREME amounts of RAM, which there is no reason for that so I don't want that on my computer. And that is still only downloading each episode one at a time, I can do that here.

I want like a package or something like that, one download.

Why? Feeds work well - both manually entered and from the iTunes store (good place to search for new thing I knew nothing about), and it has the ability to easily manipulate tags in the MP3 files without the need for a seperate application.

I have purchased maybe two songs from the iTunes store (and that was using "free" codes from Pepsi or some other promotion), never bought a TV show or movie from there, but it is still a great app for general Mp3 and podcast managment.

I love iTunes.With iTunes, can I:

1) set it to automatically download videocasts (diggnation, etc.) to have them waiting for me when I get home from work?

2) set the interval it checks if there is a new video

3) minimize it to my systray

4) set it to ONLY download the newest episode, instead of downloading everyone still in the RSS feed?

My advice to anyone who avoids using iTunes because the don't own an iPod... Buy an iPod. Even the cheap buck-fifty nano that I own will open your eyes. It just makes the whole podcast experience work.

I am not sure if yo are trying to use these questions as away of highlighting limitations in iTunes or whether they are genuine ... so here goes.

With iTunes, can I:

1) set it to automatically download videocasts (diggnation, etc.) to have them waiting for me when I get home from work?Yes ... if you leave it running. Thats going to be the same of any app.

2) set the interval it checks if there is a new videoOptions (under preferences) is to check hourly, daily, weekly, or manually. If you feel a need to check more than hourly then you seriously need to get a life :)
I have mine set to check daily. If there is something I am waiting for, I will go to the podcast section in iTunes. It then checks to see what is out there, and manually "Get" the show I am waiting on. If I choose not to get it now, it will be fetched automagically when the next download kicks in.

3) minimize it to my systrayMinimise to systray vs minimise to toolbar ... does it make a difference? The app is still running in the background. But FWIW minimising to the toolbar is an option under the advanced tab in the preferences section, and is how I have it set up.

4) set it to ONLY download the newest episode, instead of downloading everyone still in the RSS feed?Thats how I have mine set up. You can also set it up to download all new episodes with a button click (Get All).

Any more questions?

Any more questions? No, sounds good. I'll probably try it out. I was using outlook to do it (it was the only one I could find that did everything I wanted, however, outlook has the LAMEST issue in it EVER so I wanted to get rid of it.

So how would I download ALL episodes to date, when the RSS feed only lists the last 20? (At least in iTunes.)

Yea, if iTunes & Miro out of the question, how would I get all episodes to date on any show.
