Leo will never work for a corp of any sort again ..he is self employed and probably happiest that way for him..he hates the "Suits" and I can't blame him plus he probably makes more money right now than Rev3 can even afford.
Chris I guess he is happy with Undo.tv and most the people who have podcasts at Twit have jobs they are happy with.

leo has said over and over on his various podcasts that he is very happy where he is. Doing his own thing. He's very successful on his own terms.

I agre that it would be cool if Leo came to Rev3 but I doubt it since it seems like he does well on his own with his netcasts and radio show, etc.
Would be cool if he did at least a twice per month show or something. :)

True, though I would really like to see Leo do more with video podcasts. I liked it when they briefly offered TWiT as a video.

Last time I was over at the TWiT site was about a month ago, before that probably close to a year or more. I had no idea that they stopped making the TWiT videos. Too many video spec changes, as I remember.
Leo has said a number of times that the TWiT Network will always be audio, no more video.

I was gonna make some of the exact same points, Rev3 is spending a lot of money on personnel, I don't think they could afford to employ the whole TechTV crew. Personally I was totally taken by surprise when Louderback took over, That was the best news I'd heard in a while. But then Sarah, Pat and Roger showed up too... As far as I'm concerned this company has everything it needs to be great.

But a little Sumi Das every now and then wouldn't hurt.

And Leo still does TechTV in Canada, on the TechTV Cable channel there.

She was at both, but her Wiki says she is freelancing in SF and had a kid in September. Sumi-news on Rev3 anyone?

Well not to be an ASS or anything, but I am happy Leo is not coming over here. I see him as a sell out. I used to be a macboy back in the day, but discovered PC side cuz of Screensavers and Techtv and been happy ever since (lets be honest, there are tons more options for PC over mac, not to mention cheaper). I used to listen to TWit religiously , until he became a Microsoft bashing weirdo. I stopped listening cuz every word out of his mouth was anti Microsoft/Windows and proapple. But I do watch to Chris Pirillo's on youtube, he still gives tech advice and is entertaining, so if he was to join up, that would be awesome.
Didn't mean to rant about leo, but he used to be a hero of mine and now i just see him as a ..................
Oh and I do see Sumi on TV time to time, she is still way hot : )

It's not that Leo is a Machead, but he's basically just another one of those tech-orientated talking heads who actually have little in-depth experience of what they're talking about, but sounds plausible and engaging.
Less of those, more 'risen from the ranks' geeks please for the tech shows. Keep people like Leo to the shiny overproduced "news" shows where he partners some bimbo or hipster type, to lend a degree of credibility to the proceedings. And even if you wanted such a person, I could think of those who'd be a lot more entertaining (and possibly more knowledgeable). Like the cast of CNET's Gadgettes for example.
Talking of CNET, Tom Merrett would be an excellent poach IMO. He's got media chops (more so than Norton IMO) but is down with the geek.

haha wow.
you honestly believe that Leo Laporte doesn't know his stuff?
because he prefers apple products over pc products is the reasoning behind your claim?

I totally disagree. I think Leo is a very knowledgeable guy in the industry.

Chris has his own success story going including a 24/7 live video stream:
http://chris.pirillo.com/live/ but I really believe he could add a lot to Revision 3.

Funny this thread should be created, I was thinking the exact same thing. I would love to see Leo and Chris on R3. I was also thinking that they should change the site slogan to "What TechTV Should Have Done":p.. i dunno, I was just putting that out there. I love Rev3!!!:):D

I think he has a lot of knowledge of the industry in a social sense. He's networked for a loooooooooong time.
I just don't think he has any in-depth experience of what he's talking about beyond your average twentysomething tech-savvy media type. He may have been a geek, but having not been at the core of any tech enterprise beyond the media I think whatever geek chops he may have had has gone. He's basically a journalist who's floated around the periphery of tech for a long time, has become a fixture in the industry and is kind of a grandfather figure for geeks. You can't dislike (well, I'm sure some do but I certainly don't) Laporte as a broadcaster but it doesn't actually change the facts that he is, when you get down to it a talking head in the sense that I wrote previously.
Laporte is a good "mainstream media" guy to roll on for tech when you want to give your stories some substance but want to keep it entertaining. But I don't think he has any place on a 'station' which seeks to provide something different from "mainstream media".

Leo LaPorte is in a position best suited for him. He is very knowlegable but he is able to bring the tech savvy & the tech newbies to the same room. He can talk to anyone of any age group & convey a message on their different levels. Is Leo a genius? No! But he can sure link up with one. I'm glad Leo is happy & successful at what he is doing now. I'm also sure he will have a home at Revision 3 if & when he ever needs one.
