that's neat ron. i won't ever use it but it is still neat
That doesn't work very good over here. Firefox was using 50 percent CPU (threaded) and started bogging. I had a hell of a time closing the tab, which returned Firefox usage back to <1 percent.

A neat concept. I would like to be able to choose what shows to watch so maybe have a different channel for each show and have that last episode loop. I understand the beta and it shows, the video is very choppy and all i get is blurbs of stuff, not understandable at all. Keep up the good work!

Sounds like the same problem I'm having. Have you check CPU usage?

Guess what? Same problems but I fixed it by ...going to IE7..ewww. But yes, it worked. This is a Firefox issue. So eventhough FF is my browser, I have to use IE7 to watch the live feed.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest, thing missing from podcasts was the lack of channels like television has. I love podcasts and revision3 but when I spare time I always think "Ugh, I've watched all the latest episodes." So, I love this and have been opening it up periodically to see what's playing.
However, what exactly is playing? Is it just the more recent episodes that are in rotation? Will we ever see an episode of InDigital or C-A-C playing? An early Diggnation? Is there an order or is it more random? Will we ever get a url that we can use in VLC or winamp to watch it?
I would love for the older and 'archived' shows to pop up on the live stream. That is why I would want to check and see what's on in my spare time, because I've got no new ones to watch. Regardless, I'll have this up a lot when I'm working.

You might want to check out RantTV. They use to circulate older episodes years ago, don't know about now.

Really need to cycle in some older episodes. Even the topical ones will still be interesting. Even bringing in some of the past shows, assuming no licensing or contractual restrictions.
It would also be nice if the chat would just take your user account info rather than having to enter your name yet again.

Would be nice to watch if not for the Firefox CPU usage issue.
I had to actually load IE(cringe) to get the stream to play.

Yeah, it's very annoying. i don't think it's Revision3's fault though. The player on tomgreen.com behaves exactly the same, so it seems to be a BitGravity problem.

I think there's a bigger issue to consider. When the new homepage was released it never occurred to anyone in 5 months that a recent list would be useful. Not sure how that could have been overlooked right from the beginning as it seems rather obvious. In fact it was so obvious that it seemed to immediately be at the top of everyones please fix it list.
I'm sure it's not trivial to implement, but a week or so later there was a version of one that appeared on the homepage. Could that have been done better, yes. And not just because the description text is cut off and when an episode rolls off the homepage vital information is lost.
How long does it take to put an extra <p> in the appropriate location? :D
Rev3 Gazette said that a large percentage of the audience uses Firefox, so I find it very surprising that users had to bring it to Rev3's attention that the Watch Now "feature" was broken with Firefox. Not forgetting to mention that the chat UI is bad, really bad. Was it rushed to market?
There's some real talent there at Rev3 and I just don't understand why features are being added before fixing existing problems. That kind of thinking is not very revolutionary.
They asked, we responded, they disappeared and the problems persist.

Hey, here's an idea I had. Until we can actually schedule, what if we did a show a day? So Saturday would be diggnation, sunday ifanboy, monday SYSTm, etc.
Would that make it better? Would you want just the current episode, or a bunch of them cycling through?
Or just give me a schedule and be done with it?

Yeah, check out the next Revision3 Gazette, I talked with the CTO of Bit Gravity and he says that it's actually an Adobe bug that's in their bug tracker, but they have yet to fix it. It is "challenging", so they say.
But challenging is no excuse for not fixing it. Adobe needs to get with it on this one, I think.
BTW, that's why it is BETA.

jimI like that idea. You'd probably run out of new episodes at some point, so a show a day could really help that. Still, perhaps a scheduled time of when the newest episode would be airring on that day?
Actually, I just used the function. To this point I've only ever really watched iFanboy and TRS, but with this feature I was exposed to the above, Systm, and Digg Reel. Two shows I wouldn't have looked into otherwise. Now I'm not so sure. Each side seems to have it's pros and cons.
One thing's for sure. Whatever you do, don't just use new episodes. Throw in old ones.

I like the idea of seemingly random episodes playing. The joy for me would be discussing episodes I've seen with other people, live, to enhance my appreciation for and further my enjoyment of that content. If I'm going to watch a new episode I don't really want to be distracted by side discussions.
When shows are scheduled isn't really important to me and to be honest I don't think I would personally tune in to new 'live' shows at all. The convenience for me comes from watching them on MY time, not trying to tune in at your time.

Sounds geat that you know what's causing the problem! It's a shame that there's nothing you can do about it. But let's hope that Adobe gets there act together and fixes it very soon :)

How about adding a stream which is playable in VLC or some other player of our own choice, so we aren't dependent on Adobe to fix all problems?
They don't even make a flash plugin for my architecture, so I feel that I am missing out on some stuff here... :(
Thanks for fixing the Watch Now problem when used in conjunction with Firefox. Whether it's Ad-obe or a little Bit Gravity, for the first time the Watch Now thingy is actually usable in Firefox.
Now if only the chat UI's color could be adjusted and guests not allowed to post. Oh, and did I mention the text getting cut off on the homepage for the New Releases and important information getting lost when they roll over? :)
As to the content of the stream, it would seem to me that older episodes are a must and should be included in the rotation.

I think a single show each day is too much, but older episodes definitely need to be cycled in. Past "archived" shows would be awesome as well, if at all possible.
As for a schedule, I personally don't have a real opinion. If you mean like a 'true' television station has, I can't imagine that would be easy to do with each show being of different lengths. But I can't help but feel like pointing my browser to a specific time each night to see which TRS episode is gonna be airing would just feel awesome.

Not only can you just see whats on and chat about it. But what if you can start up a show then have a room pop up and anyone can come in and chat or just have friends chatting. Granted you can just download it start up skype and have everyone press play at the same time but its not the same.
i love the new feature

Very miss leading title... I thought when this launched it was going to be a webcam of the studio that would be live all day.

I'm thinking it should only show new episodes when they're first coming out (at the airing time) and maybe show them a few times after that at specific times. Like have a slot for each show's newest episode. The rest should be old episodes.
If I want to watch the newest episode, I would just watch it. The stream should be more like a TV station: it's for when I don't know what I want to watch. Something I can just turn on and watch. Like I said, turn it into a TV station. It'd sure beat the pants off G4!

Have you heard of GBSTV? It's a video station stream by the Something Awful guys and there is IRC discussion and voting for what gets put into queue next. People can submit their own content. So yea I get what you mean. I think you can even be a relay for the stream so you can supply your bandwidth, pretty cool.
