ok, after watching a bunch of TRS episodes I went out and rented the 1st desk of season one.

Watched the pilot and the first episode....

damn you JEff....

I'm hooked. Going tomorrow and picking up 2 more disks at blockbuster...

great show so far. (I'm assuming that the big reveal spoilery thing that Jeff called Dan a douchebag for watching it on Youtube was not what happened in the pilot. or at least I hope it wasnt that.)

I also bought Jekyll....but I wont be watching it until I get more SHIELD...

thanks jeff!

I believe it's at the end of season 5 and if anyone mentions it I'll kill you! (I'm on season 3)

We have the first disc coming via Netflix because I made a promise if they watched Dexter that I would watch The Shield.

I'll let you all know how it goes. I hope I'm not the only one to dislike it! I'm sure it will be great. :)

I've flipped through and caught a few minutes of a few episodes of The Shield, and I wasn't really into it.

Although now I feel bad because it's like flipping through a book, reading a few sentences and closing the book and never reading it.

I'll def order/rent/buy The Shield and give it a chance.

I have just finished all 5 seasons through Netflix (in about four months..whew) and I can say that the finale of season 5, if you were to unfortunately find out, would not hurt the series experience at all.

I broke down and wiki'd the season 5 close about halfway through because I found myself fast forwarding through too much of the episodes trying to reach the end. There are so many plot threads through the series (as you no doubt know as you are 3 seasons in) that no one reveal could do that much. (except for something that would end the series but since there are seasons 6 and 7 you at least know the show "must go on".

Anyhow, hope you are enjoying them and I will give Jeff props (again) for promoting the show and sharing an amazingly talented production to me.

So, we watched the first two episodes and so far ...

I'm sorry Jeff - I hate it. :(

I really, really wanted to love it so I could at least be the "cool" one and like Jeff's show when he didn't like mine. :p

I just don't. I know it's only the first two episodes and I will slog through some more just for Jeff but gah.

My main problem is I *hate* the way it's shot! Too close, very claustrophobic, lots of quick zooms and steady cam spins and it seems so gimmicky to me. Like none of that is necessary or good in the context it's in. I'm not fond of the actors either, especially the "gangster cop" bald guy. I don't believe him for a second.
I guess what's kind of hard too is I haven't found anyone to like at all yet. No character is turning out sympathetic to me so I have nobody to relate to.

I'm sorry Jeff! I really hope maybe it hooks me later. Maybe this is like an "American Psycho" thing. They say if you love the first one you hate the second and vice versa.
Maybe if you love Dexter you aren't the kind of person to love The Shield and if you love The Shield you won't love Dexter? :)

EDIT: I forgot! The language is just ridiculous! It's seems designed to shock and every time they utter another racial epitaph I cringe because it sounds like kids trying to shock their parents.

Joy: I'll definitely give it a few more discs but I thought I was going to be blown away the first few episodes and I'm just disappointed that isn't happening.

Got half way through the first season and other things just preoccupied my time.

Might have to give it another go some time.

Hang in there Serenity. I recently watched the first disc and had basically the same reaction. However, I DID start to warm to it as I watched a few more episodes. I'm still not loving it, but I'm giving it one more disc from netflix before giving up completely. ;)

amazing show, been watching since it first aired.

season 1,2,3,5 and 6 are all amazing, season 4 was the only slow season with pointless story/character development

It still has that pulled-back network TV vibe, when "crap" is about as extreme as they go with the language.

.... yet still shows naked women  There were several scenes that had me thinking, "Holy crap, how can this be on basic cable tv?"

Adding to the "thank you Jeff for turning me on to this amazing show" pile.
