Yay!!! In the best news I've heard all week, Jack Black decided not to play Green Lantern after the negative reactions.

Why would they reinvent a comic book hero to an idiot. That's just wrong. I'm glad he back out.

Well the original plan was to butcher it much like Bewitched did to that show. They were gonna make it like "The Mask"

I think Jack Black gets way too much credit. His band Tenacious D kicks a lot of hardcore nasty style rockin roll ass and I've been waiting for a new CD for like seven years now. But as an actor, he is okay. I love his roles in Jackal and I know what you did last summer 2.

true, i thought he was pretty weak in School of Rock and King Kong, but Tenacious D rocks "hard tasty abs" 24/7/365

Good! Now hopefully this means they will go ahead with the idea of making a GL movie but make something serious and epic! There hasn't been a good space based sci-fi movie in years and this should be the movie to really give a kick start to that genre coming back.

Now how would Jack Black ever be considered for Green Lantern?
Then again who'd have thought they would have put Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller as Starsky and Hutch.
If someone has money to start a studio and make things right, then by all means lets contact Jonathan London or Dan Trachtenberg as a pair of directors who wouldn't let Jack Black be Green Lantern.
it is funny that someone not taking a role can be such good news, but i know what you mean. lol, i'm sure JLo can relate, with recent movies like Fantastic Four "butchering a childhood friend and only being able to watch!"
i'm proud of Jack Black, he has respect for the fans in some form or another.

ok, lay off the weed. that had nothing to do with ANYTHING...but still...pretty stupid until the last part...when the guy on the left makes a face he CAN'T go back from or else he'll laugh and ruin the take. To see that guy opening his mouth wider and wider to cover up his increasing laughter is just hilarious. hahahahaha.

GOD DAMN that's funny hahaha, he totally buys it like 35 seconds in...hahaha...oh man...what were we talking about?
Green Lantern has the best powers of any superhero in the history of superherodom. He is by no strech of the imagination one of my favorites at all and I actually don't read him; but giving Jack Black a part like this would be absolutely ridiculous. I say get Jack Black into less movies, only comedies, and then make him focus on tenacious D cause that's freakin sick. Love, Brian.
