Come on ladies, gentlemen and wonderful people of revision3 let me have look at the eilte rigs you all posses. I am on my way to building an okay system. I want to wait for a LED LIT LCD before I put a TV somewhere. But as it stands the set up is 1 x 19" vertical 2 x 24" LCDs

1 x BenQ and 1 x Dell, BENQ all the way for everything... damn why did I buy the dell in 2006 :(

NOTE: This is temporary set up until I move it all again into a different apartment. Man that's gonna be fun.

http://wtf-1.com/pic_dump/where-i-rock01.jpg

The far left stack is a firewall computer and a webserver / asterisk server, the laptop is a recently salvaged p3-750 Armada M300. It's old but it's so small and in like-new shape. Perfect for writing.

http://wtf-1.com/pic_dump/where-i-rock02.jpg

Bottom left computer is an old gaming rig, XP 4000+, a gig of memory, nothing skirt-lifting but it did the job. The middle computer is an even older 2.6ghz Dell, but it runs really problem free and it's stone silent so I'll probably never get rid of it. The right computer is a 1ghz Duron for running old games. Standing vertically on the top shelf is a HP Pavilion Slimline that I got today. From the freakin computer dump. All it needed was the software reinstalled and the things works great. And someone threw it away. You'd be amazed at the nice stuff people toss out because of a small software problem or lost password.

http://wtf-1.com/pic_dump/where-i-rock03.jpg

Last but not least, the Dell makes a great media machine for 51" TV. Though if I can get Vista to not suck so much on that new HP machine it may get retired.

It's nice to have dual or tripple, but they don't match. So not as nice. But still worth a right on dude!

My oh-so-not-fancy, not-impressive, but-it's-PINK setup is portable. :D

http://laptoping.com/wp-content/Dell_Inspiron_1420N_Pink.jpg

It's a Dell Inspiron 1520. Intel Core 2 Duo T5250, 1.5GHz, 667Mhz 2M L2 Cache, 2BG RAM, 320 GB HD, burns dual-layer CDs and DVDs, built-in webcam. I went at least a step up with every upgrade, though went with the biggest HD they pre-installed. The only downside is it came with Vista, but need to finish backing stuff up (to my hot pink external drive :D) so we can put XP on this thing.

Make snide remarks about Dell, but I was very happy with the one I had before this (an old 600m), and work on one at work.

It's not the fanciest or most impressive, but it's pink, and it does what I want, and I like it. And THAT is what matters. :)

I have the same laptop, faster processor, smaller HD, bluetooth. Love me them Dells. Got it in black because I'm watching the screen all the time, not the back.

Not sure how "l33t" or "1337" my rig is, but here it is anyway...

It's the one with a 160GB. It's my only (functional) computer, but does everything I need it to. Oh, and that's Aria's in the background.

Hey whoa whoa, we're talking about computers here Aria.

Laptops and desktops are both computers. Neither was specified. To my knowledge a machine doesn't have to be a desktop model to qualify as a computer.

I don't think if you were aiming for 'sultry', that you would miss and accidentally land on vapid. I have a feeling you've got the knack for hitting 'sultry' out of the park when required.

Well here is my giant rig...Yes I built all of this myself, Including all of the computers. Lots of pics.

Here iswalking up to it in the family room. If you notice the floor is raised. and if you look to the far right you can just see my mame machine.

Here is looking in
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg42/brianranieri/cr2.jpg

This is wall one, the kids puter (witch is in the cabinet right to the left) and the wifes hers is in a cabinet down below.
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg42/brianranieri/cr3.jpg

Wall 2 and part of 3...Printers, servers, VPN, Phone, scanners, and networking is found here.

Just to finish it up...

half of Wall 3 and most of 4 Hear is where I sit. You can see more junk....lol
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg42/brianranieri/cr5.jpg

I know what some of you may be thinking, why the heck does he have the puters in cabinets, well simple NOISE, and now you thinking they will get too hot. Ah but I thought ahead. In these pics you can see I added a vent for incoming air and up top I have vent to suck the heat out.Behind the desks (remember witch is raised) I have a fan/vent nework. you can see I have access holes for cables and such also.

Sorry no picture at the moment. However, I just replaced a Dell laptop and a Dell Desktop with a new Dell XPS 420 with a quad-core and 4GB of RAM running Windows Vista Premium Home and VMware Workstation 6. Yes don't lamb baste me over the 32-bit system. I didn't have the funds to purchase 64-bit, and I know that 32-bit only uses 3BG of RAM.

Anyhow, I am running that system with 3 VM's. 1 VM is my FTP server, the second one is my media server for an Avel Linkplayer, and the last one is a Linux backup server. The whole system runs with no issues.

Each of the VM's have their own USB drive to run off of. I pulled that out of my ass one day, and it has worked well. Makes it simpler to maintain the VM's.

Future additions would be 64-bit OS ans USB3 (Not sure when it will come out)

Thanks

Jason
