So recently I've heard rumors of several comics being cancelled. This thread is to share the good/bad news that a beloved/hated comic is confirmed as being on the cancellation block. What do you know? Spill!

Not official yet but CROSSING MIDNIGHT is probably done too. I'm now officially in fear mode for SCALPED, which, if this ever comes to pass, I can guarantee the deaths of a thousand fanboy non-readers within a month...

Thats the probem. Everybody think right now about the countless Vertigo and indie titles you've been "About to start picking up" for months and years.
Guess what a lot of people were "gonna start to pick the book up" unfortunately that doesn't register on sales. How bout everybody wasting money on "world war hulk after smash" buy an issue of the initiative and you won't have to be depressed when this time next year its cancelled.

Cable & Deadpool has one more issue.
I was so sad when I read that. Deadpool was really good. His Hero adventures as of lately have been great. His new buddy Bob is hilarious. Now with his apearece in Wolverine Origins. it seems they have totally avoided everything has been going on with Deadpool.
It seems like everytime he is close to becoming a "Hero" they get canceled and someone starts all over again.

Jason Aaron has said that he's been reassured that they're not on the chopping block.
American Virgin ends with the next issue.

New X-Men was cancelled right? and being replaced with Young X-Men - so I guess that kind of negates it but Yost and Kyle are off the book so....

At the end of Fraction's interview about the Thor book on Newsrama, he says this:
MF: That the book wasn't cancelled: I chose to end it. Marvel allowed me to choose to leave the stage, rather than to continue on in a state in which I felt was compromised and decidedly unawesome.
So while it's cool that he ended it on his terms, I have to wonder what the "compromised and decidedly unawesome" state was. Maybe editorial wanted to inject some more well known heroes into the mix to boost sales? Maybe something to do with Secret Invasion? Curious...
Isn't nearly all of Matt Fraction's work "decidely unawesome?" Their upcoming plans must've REALLY sucked. ;)

It's good that he decided this. If he had one more shitty book on his resume ... he'd have to change his name to Dan Brown.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm kidding. I've yet to read anything by Dan Brown. I'm annoyed by the "hugeness" of it all.

That's OK, I think Dan Brown is vastly overrated. So I can back that play...
But not the Fraction. Five Fists of Science? The Order? Iron Fist? All good.
Still haven't read Casanova and didn't like Punisher War Journal. Didn't think Rex Mantooth was all that. But he's still ahead of the game in my book.

This is just speculation, but I'm pretty sure he's writing most of Iron Fist...it feels more like a Fraction book than a Brubaker book at this point.

I would expect more books to be on the block sooner than later. The guys at my store told me that numbers seem to be dropping all around. I haven't seen monthly totals in awhile so I odn't know if this is BS or not.

I just realized that I've only read 2 Fraction books, yet if you were to ask me off the cuff, I'd say I liked him.
Oddly enough, the one was the Order, which I dropped.
The other was Punisher, which just like Becca, I'm a huge fan of. It's just so bizarre, you can't resist.

I did buy the first issue but didn't love it. That said, I wanted to give it a fair shake, so I picked up Volume 1 in softcover last week, and when I get a moment, I plan to give it a read.

Well, to be fair:
a) The Order wasn't on the block, according to Fraction. Although, it was obvious being given some mandated changes, so I'll grant you that we can expect that sales weren't through the roof.
b) MOST comics writers working on anything less than the major characters (Batman, Superman, Spider-man, X-men) see their sales fall through natural attrition. It's very hard to sustain a series that's not starring flagship characters. I only say this because it's not necessarily due to a hatred/dislike of Fraction that the books aren't selling. Dan Slott faced the same thing with She-hulk and faces it now with The Initiative. Kirkman faced it the Ant-man and Marvel Team-up. And on and on.

Feel the same. War Journal is fun, almost a mix between Ennis' punisher and the old War Journal. What made me mad is that the first trade had a B&W reprint of an issue already included (way to bump the page count with the same content Marvel). I also have to say that Immortal Iron Fist is one of my new favorites, I guess I just needed some Martial Arts action in my comics. Aja is perfect for the book too !

I think people are just getting too crazy. Fraction doesn't suck just because he's not as good as Brubaker, Bendis,Millar, Johns, Morrison. The same 10 people cn't write all the books. There has to be room for some writers that are just alright.

Back to the subject of this thread....
I went to two different comic shops on thursday and Scalped was sold out at all of them. That might be because the shop isn't ordering enough copies but the fact that they are selling out might cause the store to order more. So I think Scalped is picking steam on sales.

Good, I'm glad to hear it. I recently decided to switch onto monthly issues of Scalped in both an effort to alleviate my own impatience as well as to support it in a more immediate fashion. I'd hate it if this gets cancelled too, right after having The Exterminators cancelled out from under me.

Currently they the story that has been overarcing the entire run of the book has taken center stage. It definitley feels like it's at a run towards a climax, a lot of stuff has gone down. I don't think every little tidbit will be wrapped in a nice little bow, but I definitley think it's plausible for the storyline will have a conclusion. Not that it doesn't depress me. Exterminators was one of the first books I picked up when I started getting into reading issues. Le Sigh.
This begs the question... what the heck is Tony Moore doing these days/What is he doing next? Exterminators ending and he's off interiors for Fear Agent (at least for now? I don't keep up with news, so I don't know if that's temporary). Is he slowly morphing into an exclusively cover artist?

I've got no problem with him wanting to start working in different areas. If it wasn't for artist starting to write, we wouldn't have fantastic books like Capote in Kansas.

I have no problem with the abstract idea of it. The issue comes in that there is only so many hours in a day and I will desperatley miss him if he fades off doing interiors.
