this is from Rich Johnson's LITG...

TRI-WEEKLY

We already know that the upcoming trinity weekly book, with approximately 16 pages by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley, will feature back ups written by Fabian Nicieza, but I also hear other creators will include Gail Simone, Peter Tomasi and Bill Willingham.

Is DC trying the "slimline" format that Warren Ellis created for Fell? If they are AND combining the $1.99 pricetag with the DC Trinity, it could really make the buying data of the customers interesting. Mind you, I know nothing. I'm coming to this conclusion because of Mr. Johnson's article.

that would be interesting if it actually happened...

That is a really poorly chosen headline by LitG. Confusing.

As far as the length of the book, I suspect that the back-up story(s) will fill it out to the standard length.

16 pages + 4 page back-ups = 20 pages of story.

Oooh, I like the Trinity coming out tri-weekly at reduced price. That's pretty cool.

i think the major format change DC needs to rethink is there complete lack of a backup page. C'mon DC wake up! Marvel has a great idea here, it benefits those of us who read tons of comics and have a hard time keeping track, AND those new readers just looking to pick up something off the shelf and not be worried about being thrust into the "Part 4 of 6" bullshit

Now this, I agree with whole heartedly. I'm not even confused month-to-month. Yet there is no denying the utility of a catch-up page.

I do enjoy Didio's pity comments and the editorial going-ons in DC Nation. But honestly, a recap page is so much more accommodating to new fans, people just trying the book out or simply those that forgot what happened in a book shipping 4 months late.

We need a letter writing campaign to get DC to add a recap page. Though it's now become such a Marvel thing, DC may resist it despite the obvious benefit.

I much more enjoy the random pages Marvel has been putting in. I don't think everyone's a fan, but I felt like they had more substance and enjoyability than Didio's page.

I agree with the recap page. When I first got into Marvel with New Avengers #1 and I looked at that recap page, I felt completely on board enough to not have to worry about back continuity...

Also, Bagley drawing forty eight pages a month? Are they trying to kill him? I know the man's fast... But dammit, no one is that fast... and certainly not for a year...

Damn... I was hoping for some good news in trades world.

This is a really solid idea though.

I love the slimline format... with the lower price point. I'd love to see this applied to better known characters. It really could change the way we read comics.

I haven't read about this, but I'm assuming that Trinity is Batman / Superman / Wonder Woman, right?

To anyone that reads Fell or Casanova, do you miss the extra 6 pages? I know I don't.

Maybe we need to go to more compressed storytelling, lower price point, faster turnaround for creators so they can stay on time, and possibly even more profit margin... you could conceivably have an artist on two monthly books.
