So on the latest ep of daily pat showed the nice mac zoom feature which i am a big fan of, this feature also exists on both linux and bsd using compiz by using the default Super key (windows key) + mouse wheel. However this is a feature i have not seen on windows and is something i would love to see. There a few apps out there that offer something similar that are made for people with poor vision or handicaps but the apps are very clunky and extremely slow and unresponsive. Has anyone else had any luck on finding this feature for windows? any thoughts would be great.

The only thing remotely similar is the "Magnifier", which is part of the Accessibility menu under program files. Thats been around since Win2000.

well ofcourse there is magnifier, like i said before most of the available tools for windows are for disabilities to just get the job done, they dont work very well though like the OS X and Linux versions.

Honestly, I've never understood why anyone would need a zoom like that. Except for my mom, she's in her 50s and has started having trouble seeing even with glasses.

ofcourse if your sitting at a desk about a foot from your monitor the feature is some what useless, but when you use a 37" lcd as your monitor and you sit 12 ft away on a couch some things can be rather tiny. i do everything from my couch with a wireless keybord and mouse and 95% of the time its great but every once in a while you get something with really small fonts or whatever that you just cant read from that distance the zoom feature is amazing to have, thankfully i use linux so compiz is an option, but i was curious about a windows alternative.
