I was a fan of Martin when he was on TSS. Between his ramblings and the random crap he managed to find, ya can't help but be amused.
Unscrewed should have worked, and I enjoyed it, but it was the wrong place wrong time. Infected was a mess, and just not something anybody was going to download. Now that Rev3 has re-done the site, he will get the viewers back. When you combine nearly instant video, with a host that is random enough to hook people, you have a show, regardless of what happens. The people that enjoy this kinda stuff will watch, and I'm glad to see it happen.
Diggnation recaps all of the weird tech-ish news, and now we have Martin back recapping the bizzare stuff that happens on that silly Internet. I hope they give him a chance to run with this one. I never considered watching anything other than Diggnation here, but once I saw Sargent on the list, and liked what they are doin so far, I might give some of the other shows here a chance. Get Laporte in here and ya might actually make it a "network".
My only gripe so far is that you can tell they are on set, and the audio is a little rough. Give him a desk (or a bar, like the old days), and figure out what to do with Gator. Right now, the episodes are coming off like a bad 'Red Green Show' ripoff, and thats not the kinda show you want to emulate. Gator should represent the average, hick-ish, "what the fuck is the internets?" guy that is totally amazed by the crap he sees, and gets excited about it.
Polish Martin up a bit, put Gator out there interviewing the crazies, do some viewer mail, bring back the INTERN, and let Martin wrap up the episodes with a nice little "what did we learn this episode?" final thought.
I don't know much, but thats what I'd like to see. Hope somebody is listening.
