I sent my 360 off over a month ago and I was wondering how long it should take. My friend sent his off last summer and it didn’t take this long. I called them and they said it was shipped and to allow up to 5 business days, but it’s been 7. Any idea on how much longer?

Long enough to get a Wii?

I have heard various stories from a week to two weeks to a couple of months but recently heard MS is having so many 360's come in they were running low on re-furbs to send back out.

I sent in a broken 360 on 1-11-08 and got it back on 2-4-08. I didn't think the process took too long. But what sucks is that the refurb they sent me was supposed to some with a new power supply, but didn't. Microsoft changed the port on the back of the console that the cord plugs into on the newer consoles. Now I have to wait another 2-3 weeks while they ship out a new one before I can play my 360. That pisses me off.

Ah, dude, it sounds like you got the "new & improved" 65nm Falcon (http://forums.xbox.com/17863957/ShowPost.aspx) version. These are suppose to be better then the Zephyr motherboard and launch motherboard versions.

My xbox took about a month, but sadly, I didn't get the newer version back.

Did you get a UPS tracking number? When I sent mine back a couple of months ago, I was able to track it. It took about a month total (so I got a free month of xbox live woop-de-do  - like I don't already have a gold membership).

i have sent four consoles in, and have had varying turn around times.
all of mine were shipped 2 day ground (close proximity to repair center)and once arrived had a one day turn around and 2 days back. so 3 out of 4 were about 5 days total.
however one of them took almost a month because of a heavy broken console influx.
by the way they don't send you a new x box, they send you a refurbished box back, but good as new.

My friend got his back in a week after he shipped it in three months after he got it at release.

It really seems to vary. When I sent mine in, I knew it was near being returned once xbox.com listed me as having 2 different xbox serials numbers. Check that and see what it says.

Got the new power supply! only took 2 business days. I guess bitching at Xbox support paid off.

So would it help more for me to complain to a real person?

More time than it takes to buy a PS3.

When you call xbox support ask to speak with a tier 2 agent or a supervisor. They will help you out a lot more if you are having any problems.

I think mine took about 2 or 3 weeks. It wasn't too bad, since I have a PS2, Wii and a whole lot of older consoles. My only complaint is I had some issues playing my arcade games when I didn't have an Internet Connection.
