Now that Y: The Last Man is done, will it be released in Hardcover editions? I truly would love this, as I like hardcover over paperback, plus they could add extras and such. I'm sure I am not the only one who wants these. A good set of four or five hardcovers would be awesome. What do you guys think?

I would love some hardcovers or an Absolute collection like Sandman very soon. I haven't read the series yet and I'm holding out till they either put it into nice hardcovers or into absolutes

It may happen eventually but I doubt any time soon. Look how long it took for Absolute Sandman to come out...

An absolute is definitely going to be some time down the line. I'm expecting some bigger collections though.

Well, at least some of that time is due to the fact that there was no absolute format when Sandman came out. Also, the book/collection market seems much more important these days than they were in the 90s.

I expect we'll see an absolute collection a couple years after the final trade is released.

Part of me thinks it could happen pretty quickly, take Capt. America for example. Different company, I know, but that came out pretty hot on the heels of #25 and certainly has sold gang-busters. But I think they're definitely going to want to sell through some of their supply of trades before they start issuing Omnibi or something. Omnibi I think we could see by the end of the year, an Absolute edition would probably be a couple of years down the road I'd guess.

The Absolute Black Dossier is coming out in June (and I don't even understand why that is getting an Absolute edition), so it's possible that it could be soon. I am sure hoping it is.

Does anyone else find it odd that they are putting out Ex Machina Hardcovers before Y:TLM ones?

That is exactly what I thought, Y seemed like the better choice.

I'm all for hard Y . Speaking on this subject, why doesn't Marvel create some collection like DC's Absolute editions? I mean Omnibi are cool I have Spider-Man, Captain America, FF, and plan on getting the Hulk when it gets released. But something nice and a little less bulky with a nice slip sleeve you know?? One that comes to mind, oh I don't know MESSIAH COMPLEX or dare I say WWH b/c Romita JR. still has fun with comic books, unlike other artists or critics of comic book artists.

Marvel already has PHCs, OHCs and Omnibuses. I think that's plenty of HC formats. I think the OHC is what you're looking for. Oversized, but not as fat as an omnibus. It doesn't have a slipcover, but really, what's the advantage of one? It just takes up more space.

The only time I ever use the slip covers is when they are on the book shelf anyway
