Patrick,

I have been a fan for a long time, all the way back to TechTV and through DLTV, However the recent episodes are below what I would expect from you. You never showed the the promised results of the painted laptop in Episode 34. In episodes 35 and 36 you promised us the wifi truck, but all we got was build up hype. The wiring info was way too long and boring. It is my guess that that project will disappear into the nethernet never to return. Maybe you should attempt less ambitious projects or not rush to get a show out each week. I'm going to give Episode 37 a chance but if you fail to deliver on this one too, I'm done. Sorry friend I can use my bandwidth for more interesting stuff.

I couldn't agree more. It's obvious that the other shows are getting the time and polish, while Systm is being hung out to dry. I was excited to a see a cool vehicle install, but was disappointed with a project that almost anyone could complete, using the simple directions that are widely available on the net. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I won't watch anymore, because System has been my favorite show. But straying from the shows that made Revision3 what it is today, does not show much dedication to the early followers.

Thats a fair critique of recent episodes. Some followups would definitely be nice to have, and that might actually make episodes have more than 10 minutes of actual content.

Wow, not the kind of reply I would expect from a senior member. I am new to the forums here and do not know how you get the senior status? Is it because you know what you are talking about and are connected with the show in some way OR is it because you post a bunch of messages in these forums. If it is because you post a lot, I understand how you got senior status by posting stupid messages like that. If it is because you are connected with the show, then I think you deserve to be fired! We are the people that watch the show and pay your bills. I am one person who lets the sponsors know I am at their site because I saw it here. For example, I have been a long time user at godaddy, and would buy domains there even without systm, but I enter the code there for 2 reasons, I save a buck but most importantly it shows them that by sponsoring this show people go there because of the show, hence they would like to continue to sponsor the show, hence the show goes on and Patrick can buy more diapers.

No matter what you feel about the guys comment he does have a point. As a matter of fact I have been watching shows this Patrick as long also, And after watching this last show I turned to my wife and made the comment that I like the shows here but some shows seem stretched for time and others seem crammed in and don't get explained real well. This is a show that seemed crammed. And the last show was boring but I figured it was because I am a EET and own a business that requires a lot of industrial machine wiring and I do that stuff on a daily basis.

Totally agree, I wanted to see the finished laptop really bad.

I didn't say his opinion was or wasn't valid. He said he was leaving, so I gave him my goodbyes. Don't let the door hit you on your ass is an old saying... don't take offense to something that isn't offensive. :)

Hang around Rev3 some more... you'll learn to love us. Except Ryudo... we all hate that dude. ;)

I am well aware of the saying, I am 38 years old. True that saying can be said and taken is many different ways and it is very hard to tell the context through words. But I just felt when a person was giving his opinion and you replied in that manor it was uncalled for. Just because I have not posted many messages and have just recently joined the forums does not mean I have not been around. I don't care if it is in person, on the phone, or in a forum all people deserve respect. Treat people the way you would like to be treated it will get you farther than in your a smarta$$.

Ok I am am done enough said.

I've always known it to mean "Bye, and no one cares."

So it seems very likely you meant it to be rude.

Agreed. Thats the equivalent to telling someone to "fuck off".

I think it's fair to say that for whatever reason Patrick has had issues in the past with follow-through. Add that to the stresses of a new company and that whole baby thing and it's only going to get compounded. I might be mistaken but I think ads are pre-sold for this sort of programming, so revision3 can't not put out content. The people who paid for them might get testy. My guess is that they are putting fairly simple projects that they can blast out in as little time as possible. What that likely means is less in-depth projects until the dust settles...assuming the dust settles.

Personally i think the mobile access point thing was pretty lame. Back in 2006 is would have been awesome, now like they pointed out, you can get off the shelf hardware to do the same thing with a lot less hassle and headaches.

I agree, there needs to be some follow-up on a lot of these projects. But so far, looks like the show is missing two full time people: Patrick and David.

David's been busy setting up the new Revision3 studio, as well as getting everyone settled in (the life of a Tech manager...), plus he's gotten sick recently. This takes him out of the picture for a while, and until Rev3's new studio has been around for a decent amount of time, I expect he'll be at his new multi-room-sized baby's beck and call.

Patrick's got a triple threat: Systm, Tekzilla, baby. The baby thing is self explanatory (if you ever lived with a sibling who was a baby or have ever had one of your own). With Tekzilla, Pat's got to pretty much handle the show while looking for a new co-host. Almost the same thing's going on with Systm, except his co-host is coming back.

The show took a down hill dip right around the same time the new studio was being built, which says to me that this has just been one big smack in the face with the show's hosts being stretched in so many different ways. I expect once Tekzilla gets a new co-host, and David's feeling better (and all the possible problems with the studio are taken care of, including the PEBKAC problems), the show's quality will improve.

Perhaps until then, Systm could take a month long break. Spend all the time brainstorming on new projects, and do the EvDO/WiFi truck all at once. As in take two or three days, do the entire project, film all of it with like two or three camera guys, then edit it into several shows, and start on the next thing. This is kind of how Leo Laporte does Daily Giz Wiz: he sits down and records like a week's worth of shows, then releases them over time.

Anyhow, I feel the problem is lack of resources in a very demanding time, not a problem with the hosts themselves (unless you could immune issues ;) )

That is a really good idea. I have no problem with Systm having a break until it can bring the quality/length of its content back up to where it has been in the past. Whether it's used to brainstorm or just finish (to completion) the wireless truck, so be it. The ten minute episodes, while understandable due to varying factors, are getting a little old.

Agreed, it was uncalled for, and I'd request an apology or the moderator status stripping from him for a while. I have seen a "Banned Moderator" on here, so Rev3 do treat them like the rest of us. If I'd have said that, or any of the rest of us regular members, it would have been deleted or we'd receive a ban!

Sidenote: Some of these episodes we're watching now may have all been shot on the same day. (just like the Tekzilla daily shows) Give 'em a couple weeks and lets see if he follows through.

Tisk Tisk..... Just started sanding it back down at the end in ep 41?

Glad to see that its going to show back up though, but I question the durability of the products used. You can get awesome results with a rattle can but don't expect to spend only a few bucks. There are even activated clear coat sprays now, that are simply AMAZING!

For anyone who is doing some serious mod painting check out Alsa, they make some amazing products!
