So my company recently put up our website and I wanted to get some opinions from my fellow radlings.

All the prints are designed to say something, rather than just the abstract meaningless designs that we found in stores. We basically just made the t-shirts we wanted to wear, and hoped that others would feel the same way, which is maybe not the best business model, but it seems to be working out ok so far...
Let me know what y'all think.
BTW, I couldn't find anything saying that shameless self promotion is against forum guidelines, so if it is, feel free to pull the plug on this...

I love the site, very rad. :D Not all of the shirts are my style but I like the idea. You need more shirts though! I want more selection. <3

Ever though tof going into merchandising? Not like, the corporate stuff, but I've made 0'000'000's doing merchandise for bands. I'm certainly fashion retarded, but my sales compared to when the record label designed and sold, prooved to me I had some taste.

You've got some creative ideas and cool shirt designs but your prices are a little high when compared to a lot of the other places out there.
I understand you probably have limited printing runs and the price of a piece of art is totally up to the artist, but with similar places offering other works at lower prices I think your biggest challenge will be to emphasize the quality and uniqueness of your product.

Just lose the Splash Page. Otherwise, nice use of colours.
EDIT: Also, maybe you could try making the text in the button on the left, fill the entire shape. Just a thought. Looks like wasted, black space there.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, and thanks masherscf for keeping the law, my bad...

We'll hopefully be adding some more designs soon, the costs were just balooning out of control, so we had to cut our initial 13 designs down to a mere 7.

The thought has certainly crossed my mind, maybe once we have the site running smoothly we'll look into it.

That certainly is a challenge for us. Originally everything was going to be made off-shore to keep costs low, but it proved way to hard to maintain quality with such separation between us and the manufacturers. So we decided to get it all made and printed in the USA, which made life a lot easier to maintain the quality we were after, but also more expensive. Personally I'm happy to pay a premium for a quality tee, but it's convincing everyone else to do the same thats the trick!

It's cool that your doing something like this, however, I hate the flash animated site. Ack!

The designs are alright. Nothing I'd wear, but I'm not really into that whole hip t-shirt design thing.
As said before, lose the splash page. It just feels too '1999' to me.
And maybe its just me, but I don't typically trust web stores made in flash. Just saying.

I love that Physicists kill people shirt. If i saw that in a store, I would buy it. Only reason I won't buy it online is because I always get fucked when I order stuff from the US because I live in Canada.

These ironic t-shirts come off as amateurish, like If I wanted to get any then I'd buy one at threadless.com I wish people would print on polyester instead of cotton.

Why? I'm curious. My initial reaction is "ACK!" Cotton is soooo nice. :)

Cotton's a hit or miss for me. Having some polyester added to it makes it form fitting.
By the way, are there any other cool looking t-shrits besides the ones by users hreadless.com? No jinks.com please.
edit: this seems to be the only shirt I like on threadless: http://www.threadless.com/product/730/Advisors

Acutally it's the cut of the t-shirt that determines whether or not it is form fitting. Polyester is only used as it's cheaper to produce, however it doesn't absorb perspiration which leaves you feeling 'clammy', especially with a form fitting garment.
Adding elastane to the cotton can make it so you can wear it tighter as it will stretch more, it's only really used in women's wear. But elastane tends to break down pretty quickly and you end up with all those little elastane 'hairs' poking out through the garment, plus it turns pink when it come in contact with the mild bleach found in many washing solutions/powders which discolors the garment.
Also, Polyester is man-made (from petroleum, like most plastics) which makes the fibers very smooth. Why isn't that a good thing? Well the natural imperfections in cotton fibers mean that they grip onto the ink from screen-printing very tightly, making the print almost impossible to wash out. Screen-printing on polyester leads to a very fragile print that will deteriorate quickly, as the ink has nothing to hold on to.
And that concludes todays lesson.
BTW, that t-shirt is pretty cool, wish I'd thought of that (of course threadless print on pure cotton tees too...)

Hasn't the Canadian dollar hit parity with the US dollar? Now's the time to buy all those things you've been holding out on...

Would nylon be better than cotton or polyester? I have nothing against your designs, it just takes me a long time to find something I like at Ross.

Do the tees have tags that say "Fruit of the Loom" on them? I serioously don't mind, but if they are custom, like the tag has your company name on it, and they are a good quality shirt, then I think the price is right. There is a percieved value in having the tag have your brand on it rather than the manufacturer's brand.

When I buy stuff from the US I usually get hit with a customs fee. For example I bought a three-hat combo from NFL.com for $60 and got charged an extra $50 for customs.

Nylon is also man made and very similar to polyester, but is generally smoother. Nylon would be very unsuitable for casual clothing like t-shirts, it is even less absorbent than polyester, and is generally only made into fabrics that benefit from monofilament yarns (ie. long single threads woven together rather than shorter fibers which are first spun together into longer strands and then woven together) and is not used so much in clothing unless it is part of a blend. Synthetic yarns like nylon and polyester do have their place, such as in high-tech fabrics for athletes where a bunch of manufactured yarns can work together to ick perspiration away from the wearer to help keep them cool. But I'm all for the softness and comfort of cotton.

No, our tshirts have our own labels printed in them, there are no stray tags hanging out of them. We don't use cheap pre-made t-shirts, our t-shirts are made in the US.

That's outrageous! Did you pay it or send them back? The hats were most likely manufactured offshore and then shipped to the States which is why you got slugged with import duties when bringing it into Canada.
You shouldn't have to pay customs fees for goods that are manufactured in the US due to the free trade agreement. At least that's my understanding of it.

Happens that way for alot of countries - i.e. all my friends in UK.
