Revision3 is growing, and so is our office. Come join Sarah Lane as she walks through the new office layout after we've made some improvements; adding more cubes, desks and walls to make room for all the people who make the magic every day at Revision3.

No idea that many people were needed to produce Rev3...

Cool episode. New layout looks good.

Does Patrick even have room for a chair in there?

A pretty funny episode.

Btw, if Marty (or anybody here) could give me a link to that song he was listening to, I'd appreciate it. "nanan smell your dick" =)

I'm surprised J Lou doesn't have an office and sits amongst his workers.

Also, the new girl is HOT!

I don't remember her name or what she does, but I do remember it was her second day there, and she got a big cube.

Poor Patrick being buried under all that stuff.

Martin's perusing Myspace to play "Can I smell your D*ck". I had no idea that a song like that actually existed.

Wait a minute, Sarah said Gator had the cubicle next to Martin, but Martin said Jay Speiden did. So which is it?

Anyway, cool episode, though I'm surprised that Louderback doesn't have his own office, or at least a bigger cubicle.

And how did they get work done while they were redesigning?

1st one on her MySpace playlist.

We just booked her for an upcoming episode of Internet Superstar. I'm wildly excited.

I'd have to say that was probably the best episode of Gazette so far. Everyone seems to really enjoy their job.

Prager, get some headphones. the sites you visit probably have a lot of sex noise in them. Why else would you turn your monitor away from JL?

I'd prefer more real interviews, most (not all) were definitely scripted (or just not serious)

Another great episode! I love seeing how Rev 3 is growing up, and all the people that are making it happen. There are so many great personalities working in that cube farm. I can imagine it must be a great environment to work in. Poor Martie! he gets to sit next to one of the hottest internet babes, yet he has a huge concrete pillar blocking the view... oh well.

Keep up the good work! :)

Isn't Prager above him, since he is a co-founder?

You should do a real "behind the scenes" show, with the whole process of doing a new episode of say Tekzilla or Internet Superstar. It'd be cool to see the preparation beforehand, the actual filming, editing, etc...

Agreed, I'd love to see all the hardware and stuff they have in detail. The encoding process I'm assuming is done with Compressor and Batch Monitor possibly on Xserves. The editting setup looks kickass!

I really enjoyed this episode. It was great and like other people have said it looks like a really great work environment. Stephanie Mack should definitely be in front of the camera more often.

If Kevin or Alex comes in and sits down in Jim's cubical then Jim will just sit on the floor, no questions asked.

No one questions the awesome power that is Kevin and Alex, not even the CEO.

Great episode! I hope to see more of these coming, maybe more of the finished studio or something. I know Dave covered the technical side (which was amazing), but maybe an episode of the behind the scenes of a day shooting upcoming episodes of other shows.

Theres a scene for the next Gazette. Jim forced to sit on the floor like a kid while Kevin and Alex just do whatever they want at his desk and chatting Prager up about the crazy stuff he is looking at on the internet.

Don't they all?

Not where I'm from.

Cubicles don't reduce distractions, they just put up barriers between cow-orkers. They tend to stifle communication and creativity as well as enforcing a sense of lack of trust between management and staff.

Tell that to Steve Wozniak.

I don't trust Prager or Louderback, that is why i asked for my wall to be higher!
How high? At least 20 feet, steel enforced, locks and small dogs with sharp fangs.

The Rev3 layout is not so bad - the cube wall are low enough for seated barriers, but allow cube gopher to pop their head up and see whats up and carry on conversations.

They'll know things are tight when they start stacking workers into a compactus.

It's weird seeing an office built around cubicles since I've never experienced them myself. I could understand it for a call centre or something more monotonous, but producing content seems to me about creativity and teamwork. Are the cubicles specifically constructed to link employees who work on the same projects? Like for example, are all the people who work on the website in a single unit?

tokenuser

Open plan offices are a nice theory, but there are times when you need to have some level of privacy to isolate yourself enough from distraction to complete the work. Cubicles provide that. Lots of jobs in tech have us become cube gophers - not just call centers.

There is a lot of mundane work that goes on behind the scens so that the creativity can be brought to reality - and that work happens in cubes.

You know, I think they use a lot of incense free ambient music. They must have a CD of it. They talked about it in a previous episode. I'm sorry, I can't do any better that hat.

It seems like that's the case.

At the beginning they mentioned the IT team was together. Then we notice Jay and Martin together.

And Jim, Prager and David R are together... 3 higher ups in the company... Jim being the CEO, Prager being co-founder/producer, and David being the Chief Engineer or as I like to say Chief Geekgineer! ... the one who keeps everything running! :)

Jim = CEO, Chief executive officer
Dave Randolph = COO, Chief operations officer
Prager = CPO, Chief Pragenator Officer.

About 1/3 into the episode, I noticed Patrick pop into the frame while walking around aimlessly looking for something, and I noticed he was wearing a pair or some nice beyerdynamic headphones. I was wondering if they were the DT-770's or the 880's. And if so, what is he using them for on the set?

thnx

I just watched episode 13 last night and thought I saw Roger Chang in the background. Now I haven't watched DLTV in the last couple of months, did he go to Rev.3? Or am I seeing things.http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc219/800wattgorilla/Capture.jpg

Yes, he did go to Rev3. He's now the producer of Tekzilla.
