Street fighter might make its way back according to Game Daily and possible tv series. Do we need more video game movies?

The answer is yes, we do. We need them to keep coming out until someone finally makes the perfect Video Game movie. We came close with Mario Brothers, and we kissed the sky with Resident Evil 2 ("My sh*t's custom"), but if someone could make an awesome Street Fighter movie that didn't burn out the back of my eyes when I tried to watch it?
Epic in a way that we can't even grok.

I hated the movie when it came out and was very disappointed with how it turned out. However, I love watch the Manga versions on DVD. They have great stories and different plot lines that keep it interesting. They should use those ANIME as a reference for the new movie.l

no, don't get me wrong, i liked it in elementary school, too...but i seriously don't think anything street fighter could be anything near good nowadays cause 1. it's not huge anymore 2. it's a lame premise 3. fighting game movies? c'mon...just stop.
UNLESS:
they made some actors do the characters in REALLY authentic looking ways. they even deformed some guy just for the part of blanca and scratched up some guy's face just for vega. THEN, made them ACTUALLY fight, in a real fighting type of way. THAT would be something to watch.

As someone who still plays Street Fighter every single day, I can't wait for this. There was an interview with someone from Capcom on GameIndustry.biz or someplace where they said this could be one of multiple movies (they're trying to make it the next Resident Evil franchise). He also pretty much confirmed that they will be making a new game based on the franchise to celebrate the 20th anniversary in 2008 (Please dear god Street Fighter 4).
Hopefully it won't suck as bad as the original one (which I still haven't seen all of, amazingly enough).

I beg to differ on a lot of points here. Mario Brothers the movie never came close to being a good video game movie, thanks to John Leguizammo and Dennis Hopper, and the crappy effects. The story was interesting, but King Koopa is not a T-REX. And Goombas touting flame throwers? LAME! And wtf is up with their last names being Mario?
Resident Evil was a sci-fi channel original movie that somehow made it to the big screen. Poor acting and bad writing. Sure, it started to follow the games, but not by much. And the big ugly thing...nemesis...well, oscar the grouch looks scarier.
There will never be an EPIC or GREAT video game movie. We'll definitely get good ones...just never GREAT or ones which we cannot Grok the greatness of.
My film snob rant is over...:D
