Came across this movie on netflix. I actually thought it was a sea based movie and I was just going que crazy, but it turned out to be a real gem. It stars Javier Bardem as this older gent who suffered a serious accident and wants to die cause he is so badly injured that he can't ever live a normal life. I don't wanna give the plot away too much, but let me say that the camera work and story telling would be up dans alley and the actual story and emotions would be up jeffs alley with a sprinkle of alex. Its a Spanish flick all in sub titles and I HATE those, but this was real good. If your in the mood for a touching story that has enough to make you really smile and even tear up a little, check it out. I simply bring it up cause it was a good enough movie to make me want to share it. Considering I don't do drama and avoid sub title movies like the plague, I'm still compelled to share this with others.

Hope some one likes it too.

Yeah this movie was great. Funny, sad, and thought provoking all at once. Javier Bardem is amazing in this one. I was reminded of it by the TRS guys' discussion on The Divingbell and the Butterfly. I don't mind subtitles as much, cause I actually like having subs in English sometimes so that I pick up everything that is said. I also spoke to some of my Spanish-speaking friends and they said that they also turned on the Spanish subs, because the dialect is either Catalan, or Galician. Netflix this one TRS crew!

I definately forgot to bring this up with our Diving Bell discussion. I liked it but did not love it. I think Diving Bell was similar yet better. The hot chick in this was also the mom in the orphanage-- and it's the director of The Others and the spanish movie they remade as Vanilla Sky...

Oh really eh? I guess i have to put the diving bell on my que when i can. Man i must be getting old for sure, i wouldnt be caught dead watching a movie like this. I hope i dont turn into some mushy old fart watching touching movies with a hanky hehe.

Just put The Diving Bell & The Butterfly on my netflix que. Man thats right this is the movie about the real events of a guy that blinked out a autobiography. F it, ill take the old man with the hanky syndrome. I cant wait for this to hit DVD. Which by the way, thats a nice feature from netflix. If the movie isnt out on dvd, you can save it for when it is.

Anyway, thnx for the heads up on the diving bell and the orphanage. I actually missed that one and wanted to see it. Thnx for the reminder.
