Maybe this has been done before, but as I was reading the "best way to die in a movie" thread I recalled seeing Wash die in the theater for the first time (and if I spoiled that for you, you don't belong in the drome. Go watch the entire series, then the movie. If you post here, I'm sure you have a friend that owns it).

The super intense escape through the reavers/Alliance battle, the releaved chuckle as Wash begins to make one of his trade mark jokes and then BAM! My girlfriend said that my mouth was wide open for the rest of the movie and for some time after we left.

So, movies that hit you hard and fast, and left you gasping for air. Rock!

the TWIST you find out with Bruce Willis' character at the end of The Sixth Sense. when the camera shows the giant bloodstain on his back for the first time. I swear half the audience passed out. great movie too, before the whole 'scary kids' movie trend which has just been retarded since then.

DIVA it blew me away, and I still think it's brilliant. It's what turned me on to Opera while I was heavily in to the post punk scene.

The end of the departed got me pretty good, especially the first death coming out the elevator. There was no lead up at all to any of the deaths for the most part in fact, they just happened after a split second's thought and totally caught me off guard.

Man at least you were with your girl, I was with my boys. Man did they try and make fun of me. But they know how I am about my daughter so it was all good.

I figure'd not naiming names was good enough, it's a mob movie, someone has gotta die in it.

Speaking of the Meet Joe Black car crash, the one in adaptation got me also....and those VW commercials.

I kid you not, I knew about five minutes in that he was dead. I don't know how I knew, but I turned to my then-fiancé and said he was dead.

I saw Titanic opening night, before everyone knew that Jack died. I love that movie and spent part of Saturday at the exhibit in San Francisco and have one of Jack's tickets from the film framed and sitting on my vanity table.

There were a few in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang: one good one is when you hear Harmony is dead, and then she is knocking at the door the next second.

{spoiler}

..but the best moment in that film was when Harry got shot and pulls out the book and said it stopped the bullet, only to see that it didn't and he really did get shot.
