My condolences.

Maybe MGS4 will be released by about 2010.

If it's multiplatform I would buy the 360 version. I'm not a freak about achievements, but it does add some value to games.

And now that blu-ray has all but won the format war, no need to feel bad about buying a PS3. Just think of it as of a blu-ray player with the bonus of playing the couple few PS3 exclusives worth buying.

I still don't understand why people get flamed for buying a PS3...but then, the 360 hasn't looked appealing enough for me to pick up one of those.

I've got all 3 systems, so don't worry about it. My 360 is my baby though. Right now my PS3 is shameful child and the Wii is the neglected one... neither have games I want to play or hold my interest... maybe if more people had microphones PS3 multiplayer games would interest me.. but allas Sony doesn't understand us.

The PS3 offers more value for your money when compared to the 360.

Based on the future-proof Blu-Ray player, no doubt about it.

It's the sole reason the machine actually exists. If you find some good games for it, then that's just an added bonus.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is a must play for ps3. Also warhawk and resistance are pretty fun too if your looking for some good ps3 exclusives.

On Multiplatform I always get it on PS3. Xbox 360s break.

There's a bunch of games I'm excited about coming out for the PS3, but it really depends on the kind of games that you're into. For games that are already out, Uncharted is by far one of my favorite PS3 exclusives. Two other one's I'd suggest checking out are PixelJunk Monsters, Super Stardust HD, and Everday Shooter. They're all smaller, downloadable titles, but are great games. I'm not too fond of some of the other exclusives, but a lot of people do seem to like Resistance and Warhawk.

As for games coming out, I'd first off highly suggest checking out White Knight Story since you like RPGs (judging by the liking of FF). It's being developed by Level-5 that have made some pretty good RPGs in the past, and it's looking like it'll be one of the better RPGs coming out for any console, whenever it does come out that is. One game that a lot of people seem to forget about, probably since it's more than likely coming out until about 2010, but God of War III. LittleBigPlanet, the new Twisted Metal, the upcoming Team ICO game, and echochrome will all also probably be awesome. Other than those, I can think of some lesser popular Japanese titles that you may or may not care to hear about. There's definitely games to look forward to for the PS3, just not a lot out right now. At least MGS4 will be out in Q2. :D

Right there with ya dude. Sony needs to step up with online BAD if they wanna compete. Nintendo are riding on casual and the strength of a few major titles a year.

I bought COD4 on PS3 and 360 and I was mega disappointed with the PS3 to find that there was no way of actively joining and existing game without a request. I've missed requests before and been left out in the cold. The current online system sux big time compared to Live.

I feel like if the 360 or PS3 released a wimote and nunchuck I could throw my wii in the bin after playing Galaxy and SSB, as there's little other leverage it has.

well, although there aren't many people that have headsets on the ps3, sometimes, it's nice. all of my friends have headsets (i kind of forced the issue) and we love it. casually chatting to actively coordinating in cod4 is great. in fact, the lack of proper headset support in ut3 makes me dread playing it. without everyone owning a bluetooth headset, i also don't often get griefers or trolls or whatever you prefer to call them. it occasionally happens, yes, but it doesn't seem remotely as prevalent as i hear it is on the xbox.

i've owned a wii and the ps3, the wii was grand for like 3 months, but wii sports got old and i wanted something new and FUN. i've had the ps3 for 6 months now and am still enjoying it daily.

i guess i'd say feel free to add me to your friend list (psn id: ijae) if you want to play some games and actually USE a headset. i do like it and don't understand why people don't go buy one.

There's nothing wrong with getting a PS3.

If you ask me, the PS3 is by and far the best console out there in terms of hardware and features. I love how it comes with a built-in wireless adapter (vs. the 360's ridiculously overpriced $100 plug-in antennae), I love the BR drive, and I love how the PSN is free (vs. 360's $50/year for Live, which probably isn't even much better). And now that it's coming down in price to match the 360 more, as well as the '08 lineup for games that the PS3 will be getting (both exclusive and non-exclusive; either way, some great games will be playable on the PS3 this year) it's becoming quite attractive. I would have bought one myself, but:

a) There's no PS3 version of Halo 3 that I could play with my friends
b) It's still $400 for the most basic version, and if I wanted to play PS2 games, I'd have to splurge for the $500 version.
c) The controller flat-out sucks. The PS controller has always sucked. Why can't they come up with something new?

B) is the biggest issue. $500 just so I can play PS2 games? That's out of line. There's absolutely zero reason that the $400 PS3 shouldn't be able to have the PS2/PS1 backwards compatibility. Zero. So, I didn't buy it. Price is still an issue because of that. Once Sony releases a ≤$400 version of the PS3 that has backwards compatibility with the PS1/2 games, then I'll heavily consider getting one. But, not yet.

Like everyone keeps saying if you're happy with your purchase just tell everyone else to fock off.

I personally would like to get a PS3. I'm looking to get an HDTV with my tax return and then at that point would probably trade in my 360 for the PS3. I'm just afraid of the Red Rings of Death and having to go through that process.

Whoa Cochise! The PS controller is quite good and nearly identical to other console controller. (IMO) It's not broke, why should they fix it?

yeah, like that'll happen. At least, I don't see it happening for another couple of years, if at all.

(Of course, that's almost like one of my reasons for not getting a 360 Elite was that the HD drive wasn't integrated.)

You SHOULD NOT be getting flamed by ANYONE for getting a PS3. In my opinion it is the superior console, that's why I went with it. I've had a blast with it for the past 5 months that I've owned it.

EXCELLENT Games for the PS3:
Heavenly Sword
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (2 is in development)
Warhawk
Resistance: Fall of Man (2 is in development)

Also, like others said, if your going multi-platform, go with the PS3. 360's DO tend do break. I don't care if someone says "I've had mine for a long time and no problems" SO WHAT? I'd rather get it for a system that doesn't break down and has more horsepower. And YES, MGS4 IS coming out his year and FFXIII is coming soon.

HOME (FREE) is also comin' out soon in the Playstation store which should be something really fun to look forward too. Did I mention that you can upgrade the PS3 up to 500 gigs with ANY 2.5" hard-drive and that you don't have to settle for limited storage of the "360 Only" hard-drives?

This year is gonna be the breakout year for the PS3 and I think it's gonna straight up whoop the 360.

Yeah, you're definitely gonna here a bunch of 100% FALSE tales about the PS3 overheating from over-enthusiastic 360 fanboys. The PS3 has had pretty much NO PROBLEMS to date and it doesn't look like it's going to. I believe you made the right choice and very soon you'll be rewarded (even though there is still a bunch of great games on it) with even more excellent title. Hold on, 2008 is gonna rock for the PS3. :D

I think the PS controller has always been EXCELLENT. Also remember, new things are not always better. :D

Heh, I was actually referring to a simple design change. Something that's a bit more comfortable in the hands, and that doesn't have loose-feeling analog sticks that seem to be way too close to each other (I've always bumped my thumbs together whenever I had to use both of them at once). I also really hate how it has two rows of bumper buttons. It's annoying to me.

I still love Motor Storm. I own Warhawk but I've never really truly embraced it. It's a great idea, but I'm really a joystick guy for flight sims and find the game pad for any system counter intuitive.
Having said that I love this thing as a blu-ray player, I like the media player, and I especially like being able to use it as media server.

I just bought a ps3 in January and it serves well as a media server. Tversity is a great way to watch all my podcasts on my Sony 60" a3000. The bluray player is a great feature as well. As far as the controller I am so accustomed to it that the xbox control feels unnatural.
