i'm looking for a good superhero book without the "thud" in a green star with alot of edges

i don't need written sound effects

but i don't want something like invincible

just some simple ass kicking superhero book

hopefully with sweat, spit and blood because if it is shown (like batman gets a left hook and blood flyes in the air) sound effects won't be needed
but since of the comicbook code, i don't hope for much bodily fluids

just like looking for a good horror movie without too much gore which cheapens it

thanks

PS
any comciboos writer or illustrator
it would be nice to see batman sweat, superman get a wedgie or robin getting kicked in the baby factory and some blood coming out (of his mouth, you perverts!)

Why would sound effects matter? If it's a good story, it's a good story.

I was trying to think of one and then realized I've stopped noticing the sound effects. Does Daredevil have them? I have no idea. Does JSA Liberty Files? No clue.

It's just like the illusion of time and movement in comics. The sound effects trigger something in the subconscious and then slink back into the dark. I don't really think about them and have no real capacity to recall them. Which is odd, given that they're not the most subtle devices in the medium.

Invincible is an "ass kicking superhero book".

I'm with kahunablair on this one. What's wrong with a little onomatopoeia? It seems like a pretty strange reason to swear off superhero books. I'll admit that I think they can be over done (World War Hulk #5 comes to mind), but I think it'd be like watching a silent film otherwise. It'd be just as strange for me for them to not be there at all as when they're over used.

While I have no idea what you're looking for on this, because superhero comics and SFX are kind of sympatico. However, it turns out that my favorite comic book of all time has no written sound effects.

No shit. I'm half tempted to get up off my butt, walk over to the bookshelf and verify that. Of course that also means that I'm half tempted to stay right where I am, and Newton's First Law of Motion dictates that I'm gonna stay right here.

I'm with Pol, I don't really take much notice. But I promise to flip through some trades when I get home tonight to see.

I think I'm going to start using that excuse. "Can you take the dog out?" "Ehhh no. An object at rest and all that..."
