To whom it may concern,
WARNING: I'm drunk and may ramble.
This was the first episode I have watched. It was ok, but........
I think a time-lapse of the install of the stereo would have been cool.
If headphones make 80% of the difference in an upgrade for portable music--> recommend good headphones.
I will never pay to download a movie(downloading movies is free on the internet), so why review obsolete services. Telling people how to find good P2P software and protect their ISP would be way more informative to noobs. Or even give a shout out to IRC!
Over a $1000 bucks for iPod speakers WTF. I know a lot of people and not one of them will ever buy that pos. Well, my Dad might, but he is a tech idiot. Me, I have an iPod; I have 5.1 on my computer; hence I listen to my iPod from my computer!
Anyways, for me it was just an average show, but I'm way more into the tech/geek side of things. If your viewers liked episode6 talk about Lightscribe in episode 7, I'm sure that will really blow their hair back.

I agree about the time-lapse. As he was talking about it, I was just sitting here thinking, why didn't they film it and play it over him talking?
Also, I agree about the headphones comment as well. But, to recommend good headphones, they'd have to use and compare good headphones, so hopefully it can be something they return to in a later episode. The segment at hand wasn't about the headphones, it just turned out they made a bigger difference. Definitely a good segment for the next show though.
I liked the movie download review, because even though I probably will never pay for a movie online, I like to know what's up and what companies are doing with the whole thing. Talking about P2P and torrent sites for movies would be a horrible idea. Why? It's illegal. Teaching and enabling people to download movies is what gets you in trouble.
Also a couple things I mentioned in another thread...
The camera seemed awesome until Hahn started mentioning the problems. Playback in 4:3? I was seriously considering looking into that camera at first.
Another good episode. This show is so good and so well done, hopefully they can get on track and start releasing it regularly. A show like this could really push Revision 3 to the next level.
I was a bit disappointed, though, that they were in that amazing theater and didn't show off any of the equipment or the set up.

I can't see where telling people how to do something could possibly be illegal. What are they doing now? Fining me for my thoughts and ideas? There is nothing wrong with spreading knowledge, what that person does with the knowledge is up to them, and their actions are their own.
I thought the show was cool. The car stereo system seems kinda like a waste to me. A couple of thousand? wtf? why not just show me how to put a computer in the dash?
The Ipod speaker looked cool, but unless you have tons of cash I don't see the point in it.
And the expensive price of things in this show leads me up to this: How about some cheap geekiness? I notice that alot of the stuff that is reviewed is quite pricey, and us normal people arn't given products by the companies.
So how about a "geeks on a budget" segment? Show some love to the geek who has an extra $100 or so in his pocket?

It's just the same as with all the file-sharing companies and torrent sites saying their product isn't intended to distribute copyrighted material. I'm not saying they can't talk about stuff, but the way they remain on the good side of legalities is by not condoning such activities. Telling people how to break the law can be seen as condoning such and in turn they can be seen as partially responsible. The best way for them to avoid the whole issue is to not even talk about it.

No, telling them how to do something and actually doing it is entirely two different things. There is really no big deal about telling people how to do stuff. I can tell you how to build a pipe bomb, if you go blow up something then its your problem.
Using your argument, you could say that race schools are responsible for speeders on the highway, that gun safety and operations class is responsible for murderers, hell even that home depot class that teeches people basic home improvement is responsible when I take a hammer and beat someone to death.
Knowledge is just knowledge and cannot be punished. It is the application of that knowledge that is suspect to laws.

Wrong.
"All the court did was say that if the maker of the app could be shown to have induced the infringement, then a court could find them liable for copyright infringement."

* The Inducing Infringement of Copyrights Act, often abbreviated to just INDUCE Act, is a bill introduced in the United States Senate which targets "who[m]ever intentionally induces any violation" of copyright. The name came from an earlier version named the "Inducement Devolves into Unlawful Child Exploitation Act." On June 17, 2004, CNET's Declan McCullagh was the first major journalist to cover the controversial bill.

Definitions of induce on the Web:
* cause to arise; "induce a crisis"
* cause to do; cause to act in a specified manner; "The ads induced me to buy a VCR"; "My children finally got me to buy a computer"; "My wife made me buy a new sofa"

I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm just saying that's the way it is. It is too fine of a line for Revision 3 to put their necks out there to help people share copyrighted materials.

Laws are a lot like eggs; they are meant to be "broken!" Ask Ramzi, he knows!

the show is cool, i missed the p2p stuff, dont know why, torrents are being used by the movie companies themselves in partnerships now i heard.
yes a tight show. the jitters are gone from the last show but that was because of the new people. Rev 3 is becoming the place for all your needs.

The original idea for the stereo was to film it being installed by a professional, but then I decided to take on the task myself...that took a reeeeeaaaalllly long time. It would have taken many many tapes to film it, so it wasn't practical. That's the first time I've taken my car apart, so I was slow. As for the cost...well...I dropped my own money on it...some people don't mind dropping 2K on their car...some people...well...it's too much.
As for the iPod speakers. Yes they're pricey...in fact I think most iPod speakers are overpriced for what they are. However, I've also seen many of them in the wild and not just in stores. I guess people are willing to spend the cash.
And yes, I'm always looking for more affordable things. Tough to find and build an interesting story around it, but I'm always looking. By the way, we don't keep anything we review. It all goes back and when companies don't want them back...we give it away.
Cheer!

Actually smart guy, that's the definition using Google's dictionary. It automatically links to the Wikipedia article everty time you define a term. Thanks for trying, though.

We had loads of problems working with HD because part of the show was in 4:3 and scaled to 16:9. And we have three native 4:3 cameras and only one 16:9. The storage and computing power we needed was overwhelming compared to what we currently have access to. I'll eventually move completely to HD, but I'm waiting until the new Sony 1080p comes out. At the very least the price of the 1080i will drop into something I can afford.

Wow, I had no idea you were registered on the forums. Thank you for the responses. I thought no one from Rev3 was actually on here ;) In that case, it seems like you're doing a great job with producing InDigital. I am curious about one thing, is there a planned schedule of how frequent the shows are going to be released? It would be nice to know when to expect new episodes.

I do indeed check the forums as does most of the people that work on InDigital...Jay (CEO of Revision3 also posts regularly). When I was with TechTV and G4, I always felt the forums were a place for people to complain...nothing really constructive to say. Revision3's forum members are great cause they want exactly what we want...a good show. I'm always open to constructive criticism. It helps make the show better.
As for the schedule. My intention was always to go with an episode every couple weeks and we're still aiming for that goal. We always start new episodes with the intention of releasing it in two weeks. Unfortunately it's been harder to do than I hoped. It's the usual growing pains that we had even at TechTV. Getting companies to send products to make a compelling show isn't easy, but I'm confident we'll get there. Taking a line from PBS..."it's possible because of viewers like you". The higher the number of viewers, the higher up the public relations list we get and the easier it is to make a show.
