Beef with the Dig Reel

Ok so I like jessica, I internet videos, and I like digg. Should be a great show then right? Well in my very(brutally) honest opinion, no. The Dig Reel contains some of the same video's that Diggnation does without the fun of having to individuals you have come to somewhat know, react and talk about the video. What has basically been created is an online version of the Vh1 show, webjunk(http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/webjunk_20/series.jhtml. )Nothing really original in way of content as all Jessica does is make (in my opinion) unfunny one liners and zingers while reading the digg comments, something we can all do ourselves. Yes this does come into my personal BIAS of Jessica trying to be funny (Jessica honey I loved you at Tech TV, you don't need to make jokes for people to like you!) but I think her talents are MUCH better suited in a different show.


This was just my take on this show as I felt the need to get this off my chest and let people know what I think. My goal is not to offend anyone nor is it to deter revision3 from making new shows. I personally know how hard it is to produce good media and have gone through my own trials and tribulations myself.

ANYWAYS, keep up the good work with the rest of the shows and I hope to see new IP's soon! (maybe something live??)

You're not alone. A lot of people don't like this show.

I've been giving it the benefit of the doubt and actually have defended this show for a while, telling people to give it a chance....but now I'm starting to agree with them. I find myself getting bored with the show.

Sorry Jessica!! Nothing against you. Liked you in Tekzilla...but this...not so much.

Not really a fan of the show either. This has joined my "Rev3 No Watch List" along with the GigaOm Show, XLR8R TV, and iFanboy.

I've tried and have given up. First, eh, second shot, eh. When I dread watching a show and would rather stare at the wall for a few hours, it's time to let go. Unless I'm mistaken, then this show isn't finding a fan base and either needs a major overhaul or to be nixed.

I think now the show's had a few episodes people are going to be less forgiving about it. While it was a new show people are less judgemental while the show finds its feet and a show format is settled on.

It's too much like every tv clip show ever. It needs to be more unique, and I really think that Jessica needs to revise the hosting methods. The obvious reading and trying to make jokes doesn't work for me.

You want a painful clip show, watch around the net from G4. I'll take Jessica reading funny posts from digg over Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn making sexual innuendos non stop. The digg Reel is exactly what it says it is. Don't watch if you don't like it. It's worth my 15 minutes though.

the diggnation people should let the better videos go to the digg reel, to it a chance. I thought the whole purpose of that show was to give a chance to diggnation to be able to talk about all the stories being dugg, and let the 'media' content be delt by this other show, as more & more of it get submitted.

Agreed. That was in very poor taste. Definitely a bad decision on Revision3's part.

I feel the same way, I totally feel like the guy who hosted the last two shows makes better jokes and just doesn't overly try to be funny, he just is.

I mean i feel like you guys could either make this an awesome show or a horrible one and its such a fine line. Think of Americas funniest home videos it was only funny when bob saget did it, every other host has just made it horrible.

I don't know, I just feel like you guys are really close to having a perfect show. Its still young, and I still look forward to watching it bloom.

Bob Sagat was never funny on TV he made everything lame or more lame.

I think its pretty lame to make a mean spirited post about legitimate negative feedback. The Bob Sagat stuff got out of hand, but has some relevance too. I never liked Full House or America's Funniest Home Videos, but I love Bob in Half Baked, and his stand up routine is solid in an uncensored environment. All the poster was saying is that he likes Jessica better in a different capacity. I personally think the problem lies with Digg Reel's format. Maybe a SNL Weekend Update like set would be better. I think a shake up at the show's core would benefit Jessica, Andrew, or whomever was hosting it.

The show definitely has great potential and I enjoy watching it. I also enjoy watching Jessica host, but in my opinion, it would be more fun to have different hosts every week. I just enjoy seeing the new faces hosting, and Jessica seems to be happy on Popsiren, just mix things up.

What's not to like about the show?

It has nothing to do with the shows content. It's the host of the show that introduces the content.

Bascially, we didn't like Jessica, because the jokes sucked ass.

Now, we have a fucked up guy that it much more suitable for those jokes.

Now, I like the show. Though I didn't like the "sad" episode.

The host had too much energy and wanted to be funny, even though the episode made me depressed... :(
