There should be a custome field for people to put their digg username in their forum profile. What do you think?

-JoshRev3 and Digg are seperate entities, so its not really surprising that information like that isn't there. If you want to wave your Digg pride, feel free to link to your Digg profile in your sig.

Yeah, I get that and I'm not saying it should (or could) automaticaly link the two but our profile asks for aim, icq, skype, and msn, so why couldn't it ask for digg username? And that's a great idea to put a link to my profile in my sig :)

AIM, Yahoo, and ICQ are also separate entities from Revision 3.

Or be like me and use your Digg name as your handle here. In addition to linking in your sig.

The AIM, MSN, Yahoo type info is there if you wanted to talk to the user outside of the forums. Digg isn't an IM client. ;)

But it's a social networking site, and it's not social nor networking if Digg and its partner companies don't push and support connection between the users.

Yeah but you cant deny the fact that they are closely related...True, but Philip Morris and Kraft are also closely related, and you don't see cigarette adverts on Kraft singles.

As I said, if you want someone to see your Digg username, throw it in your sig file.

....Okay

*Klitzy leaves it at okay to just end the conversation and return to his rightful position under the soapbox*

Digg and Rev3 are both nerdy tech things. Philip Morris provides cancer and Kraft provides "pasturized, processed, imitation cheese-food products."

In case you didn't get the conection, Altria is the holding company that owns both Philip Morris and Kraft. They are sister companies, but do not cross advertise :)

That's neither here or there. It would be nice to have a custom field in the profile for those who want to share it. I'm not sure why you are arguing this. No worries.

But Digg and Rev3 do cross advertise... I mean, why wouldn't they want as much exposure as possible?

Digg is a social bookmarking site but not a social networking site.

Post it in the "I want that" thread....Of course, I have yet to see any of these implemented...Im starting to think its almost like a trash thread where people throw their ideas in it but no one in charge ever looks at it.

Digg is a social bookmarking site but not a social networking site.

Definitions of social bookmarking on the Web:

* Social bookmarking is an activity performed over a computer network that allows users to save and categorize (see folksonomy) a personal collection of bookmarks and share them with others. Users may also take bookmarks saved by others and add them to their own collection, as well as to subscribe to the lists of others. - a personal knowledge management tool
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_bookmarking

Sounds like a network of people to me. If you want to play the semantics game, we can.

MySpace is a social networking site, Digg isn't.

I really think they should do this somehow, instead of having it linked by you at the bottom, be another nice icon on the side, and you have more space for other things in your signature.

Phatlip loves to argue.

Anyway, even if this is a legitimate request, I doubt it will ever happen. We're all still waiting on the quick reply and login features to be fixed.
