View Full Version : Shocking Suggestion for show?

Although I appreciated the discussion at the end of ep. 49 regarding the mayhem of ep.47, it made me realize that I like the show lots better without J-Lo. While I do respect Dan for his professionalism, I would've liked to see him spring on JLo for all of the bullshit that was thrown his way. For anyone that doubts that the show is better without him, I think ep. 48 should silence any critics. The friendly banter between Albrecht, Jeff, and Dan was awesome: 3 really intelligent geeks being themselves. The problem with the "smacking" incident (as well as all of the other shit) on 47 was that, in my mind, it was almost unforgivable. I think it reveals a fairly serious character flaw with London as well as an inferiority complex the size of Mount Fuji.
I think it should be clear for Dan that the show should go on without London, instead substituting guest hosts in until the right match is found. I think Albrecht would be more than happy to fill in for the short term seeing as how much he seemed to enjoy the show.
Also, it seemed more even handed when alex was on: as far as each person getting to say what they wanted vs. London talking just for the sake of talking.
Methinks the show could go far under Dan's leadership and ideas: much, much farther than it would ever go with London's bull-headed pranks.

I'm sorry... I wasn't listening... I was too busy ramming my cock in your ear.
(I don't even know what I am saying)
While I do think that the Dan team-ups had become too much, I think that our Mr. London realized that he was out of bounds after the incident. And I think that he has since learned that to chill is good. I also think that 47 was a blast, but it was missing the absolutes that I love about the show. You have Dan, a man of peace and harmony (your typical shy geek) and you have Jon as the chaos. They juxtapose each other quite well.
Now I do believe that a good "third mic" guest is always great, because it does force the show to have an unknown quantity. But you cannot take out a leg without having the show fall on it's ass.
Now that I have rambled on about nothing, it's back to the ear humping...

That's cool, man. No flame, b/c you were very mature about your opinion. Everyone's entitled to it, even if it's heart wrenchingly wrong.
Here's the deal:
First of all, if you're good enough friends with anyone, ANYTHING's forgiveable. Anything short of cheating on you with your girlfriend, or killing a blood relative would fly with me. Especially if it's intentional and here's the thing; what Jon did was not intentional. He didn't do anything he did with any kind of malice, he was merely trying to entertain all of us. With doing a show EVERY week for almost a year after living through work and projects, you get a little burned out on your routine, part of which for Jon is Geekdrome, and when he got a little bored he might've felt we were too. Anything he did was for us and he learned from his mistake and the reason Dan didn't come down on him was b/c he didn't deserve it. They acted like friends.
Now, I'm not sure how fair weathered a friends you've had or are, but I think that true friendship can withstand things like this and throwing it away b/c someone was a jerk once would mean that nobody would ever have any friends at all.
ALSO: Geekdrome differs from shows that just have friendly banter back and forth for a good reason: most geeks have very strong opinions and the best part of being a geek is finding another geek that knows enough about a subject and disagrees with you. The conversations never end and that's what we get with Geekdrome and that's what sets it apart as a podcast. Jon is absolutely necessary and even though Alex and Jeff were really great, they are not the main premise of Geekdrome: two geeks tearing each other new ones about comics movies and videogames. Albrecht, by the way, is a very busy man and he wouldn't be glad to take over, sure maybe glad, but not able, and he's also not a Geekdrome type geek, so heh wouldn't fit the show. Geekdrome is a younger, edgier show than diggnation and although they're both great shows, Geekdrome rings true for a lot of people and that's why it shouldn't now or ever change its two main hosts. I love both of those guys, independently, but even more together.
Anyway, we love you Jon, and Dan you know you got our love and that's my two cents.
p.s. unless Jon and Prime have stuff to say, I say let this die.

You fool... they'll kill you.
I admit you did make some good points. But I think Jon sees what he did and is truly sorry for it and as long as he and Dan are cool with each other the show will be them two. I think they work well off of each other. And the show will evolve and change as it needs to. Shit I thought the first couple of antics were pretty funny, and Dan took em like a man, the slapping was bad but I think Dan and Jon will work it out if they haven't already.
I do agree with you that Alex and Jeff were great and I'd love to see either of them back but for me personally Geekdrome is DannyT and JLo.

Jlo and Dan are like Laurel and hardy, add Brian and you ahve the three stooges, Abbott and Costello. You cannot split up Robin from Batman. splitting them up would be like sex by yourself may be fun for a copuple of seconds but not in the long run.

I'd probably stop watching if either Jonathan or Dan left because it simply wouldn't be the same show. While the episodes with guests have been sweet and, I think that's mostly because it mixed things up.

As soon as I saw this first post I was getting ready to write a "don't attack him dromies, let him speak" but I was surprised and glad you guys didn't gangrape him.
Although after reading your post I disagree, I'm glad people like you speak up.
Cause ain't shit gonna change! JLo and DannyT forever!

I think it should be brought to everyone's attention that Jon slapping Dan was his way of venting his sexual frustration. Dan is fucking hot, what would you do if you were in Jon's shoes? Why do you think Graham is always forcing his body on Dan? Wake up and smell the homoerotica people.
Seriously though, what's up with all this "I found it to be akward" bullshit. I didn't think it was akward, I noticed Dan was a little uncomfortable durring the show which stupid Jon probably didn't think about before acting, but it made me feel absolutely nothing resentful towards him. It was just a joke at Dan's expense, not something malicious or cruel. Like Phantasmo and Waterman he was just trying to make us laugh, not hurt Dan. This is no different than John Kerry's botched joke that is being misunderstood and blown out of proportion. Anyways I can't seriously sit here and beleive any of you emo queers saying that watching this episode made you uncomfortable. At most, I feel sorry for Dan's rosey cheeks and that he was humiliated by a friend on his own show. That's was really unfortunate but they've moved on, why can't you?
That being said. Jon and Dan's personalities are what makes Geekdrome popular. I might be the only one to say so but I thought ep. 48 was boring until they strayed off-topic which wasn't often enough. If I want just news and reviews I have a wealth of well written knowledge at my fingertips on the internet. I watch Geekdrome to be entertained foremost, and I usually get solid advice on what films, comics, and games I might like in the process. Thats an unbeatable formula and I don't welcome any alterations to it, unless they grind up some viagra and stir that into the Drome. Yummy.

Though I would love to agree with BrianGilmore here I have to blatently go against a few things you have said my good friend. And I know I have a harsh tone but none is truly meant so if this is taken as a flame to begin with I already appologise. Also I know I dont have much time lately to post much but this is something I just HAVE to say.
Prime is right on here. Yeah in the realm of friendship a slap can be dismissed if appologised about. BUT, seriously in a professional/podcast realm in front of hundreds of viewers that is EXTREMELY insulting. I seriously threw my laptop when I saw that. I had been having troubles the weeks before with the consistent downtearing of DannyT as well from JLo, though I love JLo a great deal. I guess I have a big heart when it comes to geek issues and so when I see another fellow geek tear down a friend for his choices of ways to geek out it really tears at me. Now I hope any of you who know my history know that I know what the humor is here, but there are ALWAYS lines... and lines have been crossed way too many times here. I have had friends do similar things to me and yes, we are still friends, after all is said and done and appologies are given. But that doesnt mean we wouldnt have to make changes in our professionalism together.
I hope JLo does take that chance to see this and I DO bet DannyT feels a bit of anger over the whole disrespect issue. When it comes down to it though I do feel that the ep with Albrecht, DannyT, and Jeff was good and could be a good start for something new if things dont change here with the Drome stuff. I really hope that JLo can 1) truly appologise over his treatment to DannyT and 2) understand the difference between his good humor and his crude eccentricties. There is a fine line there and its hard to walk at times, but lately it seems as if there has been no regard for his friendship with D and I can't just sit by and watch that forever. I don't know how many times now I see myself saying I want to beat JLo's ass (even have told him that lol right JLo?!).
Anyways for you that want to roll this off on Prime you can bite me, lol. Just kidding but you know what I mean. Im standing at his/her side on this one. Anyways thanks for listening and I miss all of you guys dearly. Promise I'll be back in the forums lightin' shit up when I get all this damn homework done... its a ***** trying to become a designer lol.

I recommend using a Dr. Phil voice in your head while you read these posts. It's funny and it makes this witch hunt so much easier to accept. After a heartfelt apology to Dan and to the audience last week I've gotta say that I'm ashamed of anyone who can come here and suggest to Dan that he should kick Jon off the show. Especially the ones that don't have the balls to do it under their regular screen names.

BrianGilmore's comment on friendship was interesting. Forgiveness is def crucial in a great friendship: I'm just a sayin' that no friend of mine has ever bitc* slapped me several times over just to get a few laughs. (and if one ever does, there will be some serious retaliation like cutting his nutsac off and stuffing it in his mouth) I'm kidding.
In all seriousness, I appreciate the flame-free dissent. Maybe I'm too old or whatever, but I guess I'll stick to Diggnation where the edge is still there; yet the friendship/maturity is also seen.
Honestly, I was just really disappointed that I had started disliking JLo's personality so much since Geekdrome seemed so damn cool to me. Though I may be over the hill and just not get it like some have said. (I'm a 31 yo geek from the 3rd circle of hell) It was going to be another podcast I look for religiously every week. But hey, I'm fine with the ones I have; just always looking for something new.
edit: Just saw Bonerstabone's post, thanx for backing me up bro, and yes, I'm a dude. Would've posted a pic of Optimus if avatars were enabled. This really isn't an attempt by me to tear anyone down. The OP was intended to offer constructive criticism that may potentially widen the audience of the show. Word.

I didn't know we could get kicked off the show. We don't work for anyone. We're not each other's employees.
Read the interview again. It's our show. If either of us goes it's not the show.
We've been friends for too long and you guys get to see that. Again. It's our show. He and I can go and start other non-Geekdrome stuff till the cows come home and we will. But the show is the show.
I really didn't apologize on Episode 49 for any of you. I apologized for Dan. It was a public error so D and I agreed that it was a public apology and it was sincere. But I said the same stuff without the camera MORE than a few times and if we both thought that would have enough then none of you would have been witness to it. I love you guys on here and I'm glad you enjoy the show but a forum subject is never going to cause Dan or I to do anything.
I don't work for Dan and he doesn't work for me. We work together. Don't get all highschool on the drama and think someone can toss someone else. I'm glad you guys are invested enough to feel uncomfortable or happy or proud or whatever. It means we have an engaging show. But we're just being as honest as possible each week and you get to see us bleed. I was on the fence on whether or not to even address this thread and let you guys in further. But like the loud mouth emotional "leap before I look" mother****er that I am, I did.
I love you guys. Maybe too much, 'cuz I take way too much of these threads personally. Maybe that's why Dan stays in the background on the forums more.
All I can say is keep listening until you don't want to listen anymore. Dan and I will keep making the show that Dan and I want to make.
And P.S. I know that Boner Stabone LOVES to talk the shit. But we all already knew that. I love the guy but if I ever see him in public I'm gonna have a little SandStone jump out of a tree and knife him in the back SandStone style while dressed in a racoon suit. I would karate chop that guy so bad he wouldn't even see it coming. Then I would let SandStone finish him ICP style in an alley and that probably has something to do with penetration. Anyone who would throw their computer out of that needs to step back or SandStone will be the last thing you see.
P.P.S. I assure you all, I am still not on drugs.
P.P.P.S. Kickball game at the Dromie Picnic is coming your way. Settle it on the field Kickin' style.

Gotta say though - I'm impressed by the maturity in this thread. Constructive criticism and thoughtful responses ... except for the image of Sandstone running around in a racoon suit - HALLOWEEN IS OVER.
Prime, bonerstabone ... give the show a chance. Go back and watch a few episodes - it grows on you. Not in a creeping slime mold sort of way, or like a cancerous growth, but in that "being touched in the secret place" sort of way - just like the love expressed between consenting adults like JLo and DannyT. If the show isn't your thing - thats cool too. Check out the other shows Rev3 has to offer - Diggnation, or Infected might be more your thing.

I'm glad you enjoy the show but a forum subject is never going to cause Dan or I to do anything.
I've actually been holding onto a little topic just incase there ever came a time that Geekdrome became too powerful for any mortal man to control. It was an attack designed to tear the fibers of your friendship apart in such a way that they could never be mended again. Geekdrome would sink like the Titanic if this thread were unleashed on the forums. I won't tell you the full details, but the name of the project is "Mr. Miyagi vs. Jean Claude Van Damme" I pray that I never have to use it and that it never falls into the wrong hands.

Is it me, or does anyone think that if we were in the old forums the gauntlet would be thrown down and there would a nice, toasty flame war to take the chill off this autumn air? There's a part of me that hates this new found maturity level.
That being said, since we are in the new and improved Rev3, so sensitive, considerate and moderated, where everyone is to coddled and nutured, here's my two cents:
If Jon or Dan ever leaves Geekdrome then I'm gone. It's the ying and yang, the chemistry between the two that got me hooked and keeps me coming back each week....period. Do a search in ITunes, enter "geek" you'll find plenty of podcasts that emulate this format with similar themes. But for me, there's more to it than the information...I can get that other places too, but it wouldn't be the same.
I just doesn't rub me the right way when people listen to an episode or two and then feel the need to expound on how the show could be better. Perhaps the show isn't for you. It happens. If a person wants to make a judgment based on a one episode listen that's their problem. Why should the opinion of a few be considered over the opinion of many, over the people who work hard to create the show weekly? Maybe people should go and make their own podcasts, tailored to their own specifications.
For instance. I started listening to Penn Jillette's podcast. I enjoyed it for awhile. He's an outspoken atheist, which didn't bother me at first. I noticed though he seemed to "preach" atheism, it was an subject brought up so often it overshadowed the things I liked about the show. I didn't send him an e-mail requesting he change his content to suit me, I just stopped listening. His show is popular so it's to many long-time listeners' liking and that's great.
Anyone who watches Geekdrome knows that Jon isn't a Dan abuser. They are long-time friends, buddies, bros. Like when my brother punched me the other day in the arm a little too hard. It wasn't intentional, if it was a stranger then it would have been on. Jon is like the brother who's always teasing you and you do stupid stuff like that with family. I know with my brother, if you laugh at something he's doing that's silly...then he just gets excited, takes it to the next level. Jon is a man with a kid's heart and he just got excited. I'm that way too, I'm 35 hanging with my geek buddies, buying comics. Stay gold Johnny, stay gold.
Professionalism...great now Geekdrome is being graded on professionalism? Oh boy.
If you would drop a friend because of that incident, then your view of friendship is different than mine. Their friendship goes beyond the scope of Geekdrome so let's not assume that we can say much about what happened and Dan's reaction and what we would have done. They could have edited out of the segment but didn't.
Are they now sit and scrutinize each and every move now to see who will be offended, who will be turned off and won't want to listen anymore?

Hasn't Sandstone been banned already? Just say the word ... I have an itchy trigger finger today ...
I hear ya Token... guess you haven't heard of me though, lol. I've been here quite a loooooong time. There is no way I would leave my drome buddies behind but I did have to say what really made me mad lately about what was going on. And I wanted to make sure Prime didnt get ripped for having a good honest opinion.
Thanks again bro!

Wait wait wait... WTF you attacking me for? Yeah I did throw my laptop over the shit you pulled on D. I wouldn't stand for that. As for this ****ing oust shit I have no clue who wants that to really happen. Who the **** said we should get rid of a host? I pretty much think you are joking here about getting me JLo cause I know you know me well enough that we can talk about anything, lol. Dude Im soo gonna bring it Hogan style on your ass though if I see you in a ****ing Tanooki suit out there. Yeah your ass is gonna turn to stone from my manhandling biatch, lol. Anyways this forum shouldnt be about ousting anyone. It should be about voicing an opinion about a PUBLIC issue that happened on cam. And as for an appology I may be the only one that didnt see that and I watched the whole ep. And yeah, I know now the ep got cut short so just chill guys lol.

Well glad to see all is good....
I was personally just worried that the show would become one of those awkward high school hall moments. You know when your walking and pass a kid who has been bullied and picked on and when you walk by him and you scratch your head right beside him...He almost falls over he's so scared.
Bad times had by all

*takes a deep breath*
For instance. I started listening to Penn Jillette's podcast. I enjoyed it for awhile. He's an outspoken atheist, which didn't bother me at first. I noticed though he seemed to "preach" atheism, it was an subject brought up so often it overshadowed the things I liked about the show. I didn't send him an e-mail requesting he change his content to suit me, I just stopped listening. His show is popular so it's to many long-time listeners' liking and that's great.
Professionalism...great now Geekdrome is being graded on professionalism? Oh boy.
Are they now sit and scrutinize each and every move now to see who will be offended, who will be turned off and won't want to listen anymore?
*rant over*
As for the 1st part of el ranto, the definition of your sexy new philosophy has already been defined: it's called apathy. Yeah! That's exactly what the world needs more of! Just put a cork in it when you see the little guy getting beat up on in the cafeteria or the guy gettin' mugged outside your window, right? Sorry dude, but progress was NEVER made by apathetic people like you. But since I said my peace, I will actually take your advice and quit listening. Gracias for giving me that option!! (I may not have thought if it on my own)
And No, Geekdrome isn't being "graded" on its professionalism. It's being graded on its humanity and the ability to inspire people and not depress them. That for me, is what any podcast should be in the business of doing. And as a fan, I just wanted the "makers" to know how a lot of us feel that have never bothered with these queer forums.

I'm not trying to scare anyone off. If someone comes across like he gets boners based on how many syllables he can squeeze into a sentence I like to goof on him. This is a forum based on a show based on trivial shit. Why does ANYBODY feel the need to expunge (big boner word, I know) their views on world events, much less a relationship between guys on which they have ZERO frame of reference? Stuff happened, it was apologized for (by the way Dan, I apologize for humping your head) and it's in the past, get over it. If you want to prove your mastery of the English language go write a book. If you want to talk about your favorite game type in Halo then type until your fingers bleed.

What is up with all the long posts?!
People, keep it simple.
JLo loves Dan.
Dan loves JLo.
Geekdrome (as is) forever.
When Dan shows up with bruises we all know it's from falling and not from JLo whipping his ass. ;) There is no abuse here people, just misunderstandings.
Mommy! Daddy! Don't get divorced!!
