I have a d-link 614+ wireless router. I have that router connected to my cable modem, and to my desktop pc. I get decent internet rates, but my neighbor gets a faster speed. He said I can connect to it if i can. is there anyway that I can connect to his wireless router with my wireless router?

How far away are you from him? could you maybe get a wire over there somehow, ultimately that and a switch would be best. Lacking that I think what you need is a Wireless Bridge, it looks like a repeater and the purpose of it is to bridge two separate networks. I am not sure about putting a router into client mode, I have really never heard about that before, I will have to look into it as I get time.

i know that dd-wrt and openwrt can go into client mode. if its over 100 feet ethernet wont really work

You should build or buy a wireless signal booster so that you get the top speed as well.

built a cantenna, but my router and his router are like mmmmm... 50 feet or less apart, with no real obstructions (except for drywall, and my car in the garage), we cannot run a wire, as his parents would flip, and I can't afford new equipment, i just thought it woulda been easy for the router to pick up the wireless signal, and transmit it, but i guess i was wrong, or was i?

Unless the router can bridge or repeat it cannot be done. I dont think the 614+ can. See if his does and if it does you can switch routers.

i thought repeating was it just rebroadcasts the signal and not actaully route traffic through it
