Things didn't exactly go as planned for shooting a behind the scenes segment but this episode will at least hold you over until we get a real one.
Watch as we travel to St Louis, run around St Louis, learn some about the gear usually taken on "road shoots" (informative portion), get a look at some clips from the live show that you haven't seen (or have from someone else's camera), and finally, how Kevin deals with being stuck in St Louis on his birthday! This isn't your typical Gazette, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. I think it'll give you a bit of a look at what it's like to travel with these guys. We'll pick up on the viewer input portion on the next one - and again, thanks for your great input and responses so far in the forums (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15141) - keep it up - we're listening!

Hilarious episode. Nice one Glenn.
Kevin, bent over the ground, to Prager: "Don't... hurt me." I'm sorry, but that was just one of the unintentionally funniest things ever to hit the R3G.

Best episode in the gazette by far we need more of this

Thanks for this Glen. This is easily the best episode of the Gazette. I'm a little embarrassed that your travel kit for Rev3 is better than our standard kit at BWF ;)
Love the equipment though. It was great to nerd out on production equipment in this episode.

Now that's what behind the scenes episodes suppose to look like. A+++
Man, Alex looks so different with his hair combed and glasses on... (and using an apple.)
The live show was one of the best nights in my life. :D

Big thanks to Glen for this ep. I think that it was really cool to just see everyone acting like themselves, and the video equipment. I loved some of the camera shots, like when you first entered the hotel, they were more artsy and creative. I also love the more raw style of shoot, it seems more true to what the gazette, initially meant to be.

Yeah, best gazette episode yet. I liked how everyone acted like themselves, it also had a bit of thebroken feel to it.
Oh, and Glenn admitted he was a hippie!

Yep I really enjoyed this episode as well, I was half expecting some MTV jackass stunts to start when the guys started climbing stuff.

Amazing! I loved it! This and the Sounds and the Fury are my top 2! Enjoyed the random street stuff and the camera gear.
As long as there is a balance of randomness and [slightly more] seriousness, I think the episodes will be great

As I have always told Sarah (and many times she has listened) NOTHING beats candid and true insider information. This epi that Glenn produced is by FAR the best Gazette ever. Why.....It was as real as it gets.
No scripts, no correctness, just people like the rest of us. That is one MAJOR selling point in why Diggnation is so popular. Diggnation isn't at all about the stories, it's about two people that are normal, drinking beer (often), and talking about stuff that they find entertainment in.
When we try too hard, and others see it, well....it sucks. When we go with a feeling and can laugh at ourselves, everyone else laughs with us.
This epi of the Gazette was just that. Glenn got play (just like he did during the live Diggnation event). People care about Glenn. Jim got play (and at one point was surrounded by women) at the live Diggnation, why.... people are interested in the real behind the scenes (business) stuff too.
So if you want a suggestion for additional Gazettes..... take the camera with you everywhere. Meetings, lunch, the drive to work, the office disagreement about what should or shouldn't happen. This will get viewership. And I'm not talking about "reality tv" I'm talking about real life, which is sometimes boring and sometimes not. Record for a week or two, anything and everything. Delete the boring stuff and air everything that you or someone else laughed at.
We'll eat it up!
Glenn..... Good job Brother! This was great.

I must say that I would be totally OK if the Gazette became Glenn's show. In fact I would love it. I know Glenn feels awkward in front of the camera. but still. we love you man.

Awesome episode Glen. What is the weird tearing effect I was seeing when watching the video? Also I know you don't like it but try not to see so angry or unexcited about being in front of the camera! It wasn't as bad this episode as last but your plenty interesting to be in front of the camera just don't make us feel like we're forcing you to be there lol.(just hire me and I'll do it)
Anyway good show
Any content is better then no content (unless your talking about the digg reel)

Hilarious episode. Nice one Glenn.
Kevin, bent over the ground, to Prager: "Don't... hurt me." I'm sorry, but that was just one of the unintentionally funniest things ever to hit the R3G.
I didn't think about it as I watched, but as I read this it flashed in my mind and I laughed LOUDLY and a lot. Nice.
Far as the show it was what I and apparently many thought was what the Gazette was going to be. My favorite probably lies with Randolphs' studio tour, only because there was SO much information. This is an extremely close second. The presentation, with the backround music, the text and all, good show.
Hippie! (sorry)

So i usually get in bed a little early and i relax watch a rev3 podcast or two, and ive just become obsessed with The gazette,. After getting all the episodes and watching them in the last 2 days i cant help but be happy that the newest one came out right when i finished them all.
From the second i read the title i knew this would be a great episode, and every second of the podcast i was entertained. The true behind the scenes candid-ness of this episode made it one of the greatest podcast i have ever seen.
Seeing what the Rev3 casters do when the stuff hits the fan, seeing how awesome the hippie really is, seeing what goes into Live shows has made this a completely kickass episode.
This is what the gazette should be from now on. Well a mix of what it has been. The past episodes were well needed and seeing not only behind the scenes of our favorite Rev3 shows is important but the inner workings of Rev3 are also important.
So job well done on getting me out of bed and making me post in this thread.
As you can read from not only my post but the posts of others this is a shining example of one way the gazette will make us weep ( in a proverbial sense of course)

We love you too Sarah :) Please dont feel left out

This was the beat R3G yet. I loved the natural/candid feel as many have stated above already. I really hope any and all new Rev3 shows are done unscripted like this, because that's really what makes them great.

This was the best R3G episode ever!!! I loved how everybody was just acting 'normal', and I loved the behind the scenes from Glenn's room.
We need more shows on how you do the individual shows.
AWESOME :D

Wow greatest Gazette Ever! (sorry Sarah)
From first glance Glen doesn't look like that much of hippy (ie no tie die, long hair etc...)
Great to see you guys in your natural habitats (see last 30 seconds of the episode)
I wanted to see Louderback do some crazy street jumping stuff - next episode?
Keep it up boys.

I'd say that it is unanimous. The new direction the Gazette has taken is a good thing. I look forward to many more interesting behind the scenes episodes.

Great episode, could watch people having fun and goofing off like that all day. Great!
ya I enjoy the gazette for how fresh and unique each episode can be. I really enjoyed this one, however I have also enjoyed all others, inc fruit club. Keep on bringing new ideas and structures to this show, its just great!

This is what the gazette should have been all along. I'm sorry, but I think every time Sarah came on screen with her "cracker jack reporter" deal, I cringed. Sarah can be entertaining when she isn't in her "on-air" personality mode.
This episode felt so well produced and had a "vacation video" feel to it. When Kevin and Alex are on stage, you know that they have talked before hand on what they should talk about. This gazette lets you in on that process and also lets you see their personalities (even if they are tired).
Glen, you are the man for doing this. Not only did you shoot the diggnation episode but you gave up your time to shoot this as well. As others have said, you are interesting and deserve to be in front of the camera from time to time.
Congrats to the real first episode of the Gazette. Now lets work on the name.

Glenn is awesome in front of the camera. He's unintentionally funny, (like in the last episode where he has this very dry humor and then just starts swearing, I found it hilarious) This is the best episode of the Gazette.

Great episode, started watching it this morning (swedish time) but had to rush off to work. I also love the episode with Randolf showing of the new studio but this is another great episode. More episodes like this are welcomed in my book.

02-28-2008, 07:01 PM
Yeah, I too loved this episode. My favourite episode for information was Dave's studio tour, but this was a great one for entertainment mixed with information.
Glen admitting to being a hippie for the apples was very funny.
Edit:
Just a quick note, the travel equipment segment was edited a little on the fast side, I had to pause a lot to read the information. not a big deal but this is a forum for feedback, so there it is.

This was my first episode of R3G, and I'm afraid I'm not going to get anything done at work for the next two days, since I'm going to have to go back and see what I've been missing. Great shots of the city I love, interesting to see the gadgetry involved behind the scenes (in the crowd pre-show, many were wondering about that software you used for the live overlays & inserts), and I absolutely loved seeing everyone with their hair down. Including you, Hippie!
Most importantly, I loved the footage that I was afraid noone had captured: Alex humping his Falcon Northwest. Booyah! Thanks for this, Glen, and keep up the good work!

Great stuff
It would have been cool to have seen more "right before the episode", "during the episode" and "right after the episode".
To see everyone mobbing Alex and Alex; talking to Jim, and Prager, and the Hippy. There was just so much going on.
And even after the show - take it to the after party .... Alex didn't show, but we still had some fun for a little while and The Tap room wasn't prepared for it. That place is about 4 times as big as the part we were all crammed into.
Set up some meet and greets - sell some merchandise - it is a freakin' tour.

Just today I was thinking to myself, would not it be cool to see a behind the scenes of revision3, and then I get home from my algebra mid-term (made an 84 btw, not my best subject) I see this. Awesomeness is all I have to say, I cannot wait until the next one. It already makes me itchy waiting between diggnation episodes, so I am extremely happy to have this tie me over.

Revision3 has got the right idea going and I hope you can continue to put out such great material for the rest of us.

Glenn. I'm fuckn' serious when I say that was THE BEST Gazette ever. Even though it was a bunch of "random footage", it totally worked w/ your edits, captions, and soundtrack choices.
That's some serious kit packing skills too. You could work for Alex Lindsay's gang at the Pixelcorps anytime.
Great production work.
Awesome!
Rev3 Gazette is beginning to become my fav. show on Rev3. Ironic that the meta and "behind the scenes" outplays the normal shows.
Great work!

Quick question, you listed one of the main cameras as a JVC-200. Can't find that one. Sorry second question, I take it most of that was shot with an HV-20?

Best Revision3 Gazette I've seen. Glenn, your great at production, cinematography, and editing. It was awesome to see what you can do when you r entire artistic ability is unleashed. Not to discredit your work on diggnation, but I mean you can only take so many artistic liberties. The whole feel of this episode was "organic." I guess that's fitting considering your lifestyle choices. Anyway, I used to think man, that camera guy is just some friend of Kevin's who knows some editing tricks, and is lucky enough to maintain an important job on the premier videocasting website in the world. Now I truly believe your position is very well deserved. (Not saying I didn't think you were good, I just didn't know you had this in you.)
Also, your awkwardness in front of the camera is your best asset. Maybe on traditional networks, the calm, collected, and cool belong in front of the camera. Revision3 definitely isn't an ordinary network and is watched by a lot of technology nerds not much different than yourself. I'd say seeing you in front of the camera is a awesome on a personal level for some and flat out funny for everyone else. Revision3 is a business you know, funny sells, your funny, Kevin and Jim are good businessmen, I foresee your future on both sides of the camera.

By far the best episode of the Gazette, this is what the Gazette should be. Try to make all of the videos like this from here on out. Maybe some TRS behind the scenes? Whenever there is a live taping, the Gazette should filming there too.

this has to be the best one you guys have done. the music, editing, on screen text, Kevin looking like a fool the whole thing. this is how the show should be made from now on. oh and seeing as how its a behind the scenes kinda thing the messed up mic just fits in and i dont think the mic was that bad.
P.S. when are you guys coming to Florida?

This was by far the best gazette ever, this is exactly what I want to see and everyone else seems to agree. Please keep this format in the future.

thanks people, glad you liked that clip. must say it was a rather fun trip and was really good to see and hang out with fans. i have this issue however. i did a half day walk through with jay speiden of internet superstar yesterday for next weeks gazette and am now having issues on not speaking in his style of voice. it's rather catchy. and not only that, it creates soothing comfort in any unwanted/tricky situation. well, i tell ya, he's one crazy cat that jay and marty. if only you could hear how i'm speaking in how i'm writing.
