First off, thanks for the input - I really appreciate the positive response!
Here are the options based on your feedback that are feasible to cover for next weeks episode:
Behind Scenes of a show and what goes into it (only option for next week is Internet Superstar)
TheHumanEclipse, LStone, finnigan16, Branflakes, darknessgp and supermaan write:
- Could we possibly see a behind the scenes taping of an episode (for any show, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the Gazette)? Possibly see what goes on from concept to completion?
- production from start to finish (planning, filming, editing ect). An episode of Tekzilla (or TRS if you want to head down to LA) would be perfect for this.
- what kind of equipment is involved and such needed to record such a show.
- interview cast, talk about various scenes or random stuff that happened on set, show them during filming, talk about needed setups for scenes, etc.
- preparation beforehand, the actual filming, editing, etc...
- show us some of the major (and being a video editor, I know they happen) mistakes that have happened. I realize the point behind video production is to hide mistakes and problems, but it's always nice to see the reality behind so many shows being put together.
Editing tips, equipment in greater detail, waveform monitors, vectorscopes

Equipment and Editing programs used. You guys shoot in HD and edit HD. I would expect for some sweet stuff! As a amateur editor, I would love to see how the pros do it on their rig!
Producing - we can talk with producers here at revision3 and you can learn how to produce - research, etc
Host/Techie profiles - suggested by BSG. "Hi I'm Patrick Norton, I worked for..."

Let me know what we should go with, and then you can all send in any specific questions you'd like asked of the chosen topic.
Also let me know of anything you like/don't like about previous episodes and I'll incorporate that into the next episode as well.
-----------------
Lastly, here are some responses to your questions/comments:
hellonightmare: Wow, some of you guys have some really great interesting ideas. My only concern is that some of these things look like they would be shows that could last hours, and some only minutes. Is there a length restraint of only 20, 40 minutes?
- No time constraint other than that they (the Rev3 folks) are only giving me (I'm the only one on this project) just two days to produce this (one to plan and shoot, the other to edit) - so please keep the ideas to ones that are feasible within this time constraint. Also - if you all like where this show is going, please give input and I'll pass it on to the higher ups and say "Hey, they want you to give me more time on this project!"
stephan - (from Studio Operations Episode) - The Cameraman just needs to pull focus more reliably, and steady the shot a little bit.
- My bad, but it is really hard to use manual focus (no auto on the JVC's) when the depth is constantly changing. Working on getting better tho! Thanks for the input.
eminemdrdre00 - I'd prefer more real interviews, most (not all) were definitely scripted (or just not serious)
- This is a response from the Cubicle Episode. I hear ya - but that's what they gave me. It's also a bit hard to be serious about cubicles, I mean, what would you really say about getting new cubicles? I do, however, like the option of putting in the occasional "not so serious" style of episodes. BUT - this show is intended to be by and for you, the viewers, so i value your input and if others agree, I can keep this style of episode to a minimum. Thanks for the input!
wakachamo - Can anybody tell me the name of the opening tune on this episode?
It's called "Roads are Leaving". It's from the Infected days and I can't find the original artists info. We have it, it's just buried from our move to our new space. I'll let you know once I come across it though. Cool tune huh? Check it out in Infected - it's under the "Gator on the open road" portion.
travislopes - I like how in the episode (about Bitgravity) Jim "sends it back" to Sarah and then in the clip with Sarah, you see Jim walking toward the camera in the background.
- HA! Too freakin funny. Jim is so fast he can be in Palm Springs and then back at the office in like, 1.5 or 1.7 seconds. It's really amazing.
-----------------
Ok, so thanks again! I'll compile the responses to this and will post again tomorrow with a topic in which you can send in your questions.
