Me and my friends come from the same backgrounds in TV production as the Revision 3 crew. We are trying to start our own Internet TV station as well. I am the CEO and have been talking with VC firms and other investors(getting a little frustrated). I would love to hear more about how the company started and where it is going. I love the Gazette eps and I wish Revision 3 all the best as I am a big advocate of this being the future of Media and Entertainment.
My biggest question is how did you sell the dream? As I approach VCs and investors they believe in our vision and passion but what it distilled down to some how fit on an Excel Spread Sheet...:(

the answer is obvious you need to find someone who believes in your vision who can translate that vision into the excel spreadsheets the VC want
and/or
you need someone who buys your vision that has a track record at making money via the internet
a forum of a corporate entity with whom you hope to compete is not exactly the best place to seek for allies

My state has a "think tank" that helps tech start ups and they have committed
to helping us, but it get frustrating sometimes to try and explain every meeting we have about video and it's future on the web. Do not know if that is an age thing or the area I live in.

when google bought youtube video on the web was validated
maybe arkansas is not the best place to look for VC money
top 100 VC (http://www.entrepreneur.com/vc100)
since what you are selling is video then it seems you should be able to create a killer video to sell your idea and send it around
accept that your idea might not be marketable
accept that your idea might not be marketable in its present form
accept that your idea might not be timely
accept that others are most probably doing or wanting to do what you are doing and they might do it better in one or more ways
it is not supposed to be easy and dealing with frustration is an important skill
edison went through hundreds of trials before he discovered tungsten would keep the light bulb lit for a long enough time to be marketable
spend time here (http://www.forbes.com/entrepreneurs/) every day
if you want to play with the players you need to understand what they are doing
and you have to understand what it is you really want out of this venture and what it is that is unique that you have to offer
VC money is not a grant or a scholarship
before you sign any agreements get a lawyer

Do you have a business plan on paper? While VCs may thing "you're onto something," they need something hard to back up why they should invest money with you. When I was working on a start-up, this was the spot we had trouble. Get it down onto that spread sheet. It takes more to sell an idea that just believing in it.
