Well, it is 6am and I've already been up for an hour, eating stretching, and generally getting ready for the marathon today. Thought I'd share my experience with my peeps (i.e. you!)... I'll post when I get home, too (if I survive  )
I've gotten several emails from people who are also running today, so I'm hoping several of you will also post here, too.
Cross your fingers for a not too hot day! See you in 26.2 miles!

Oh, and if at all possible, post pics please. I am trying to prove a point to the kid that LA is safe and fun to live in and being outside will not damage you.
Damn those school natural disaster movies and pollution doomsday stuff. They always have to use California as examples. As if you can go a week without a flood, snowstorm or tornado happening here. Jeez.

Way to go Jeff! I've been putting off doing the Couch to 5K running program, so I'll be very interested in seeing how someone finishes a real race. :)

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do a good job.
I'm planning on training up slowly to run a 5k in the spring and a 10k in the summer.

I've seen a little bit of it on TV this morning, enough to see that Phil the Westside Rentals guy is running it too!
I ran it a couple of years ago, and its awesome. Even when you feel like you're about to die, the people lining the streets cheering you on somehow keep you going. Good luck! I'm sidelined this year with a stress fracture in my ankle, so no marathon for me. :(

Good luck jeff i know you can do it.
Please, if you feel like it, i would really like to hear about what motivates you and what you do to stay in shape and how you eat even. Im trying to get back into shape right now and it would really be of great benifeit to hear from another person drawn to gaming and the internet as strongly as i am, how you balance the 2.
Thnx

Good luck, Jeff! Can't wait to hear how it went. I'm more of a trail runner, myself. I just can't get as motivated to run on the road.

Hi Jeff,
Maybe next time you run a marathon you could find a way (paypal?) for us to sponsor you and donate the funds to a charity of your choice? I really think there's nothing radder than positively affecting the lives of others.

Thanks for the support, everybody!
I just got home and I'm proud to say I beat my time last year by a full half-hour!
If you're interested, here is my results
10K Half 30K Finish
01:01:06 02:23:04 03:35:29 05:13:11
Time Chip Time: 05:13:11 Clock Time: 5:17:57 Pace: 11:56
Place Overall: 7036 Gender: 5220
I'll post pics when I can access them.
Also, I think at the last turn on mile 26, there was a TRS fan (or fans) who called out my name. If you are reading this, I apologize for basically ignoring you. I was pretty much focused on bringing it home.
I will now go collapse in a pile of my own tired.

All Italians born in the 70's have that on repeat in their brains at all times. Little known fact.

That's what I was shooting for this time! And I was soooo close. I really saw it slip away at mile 22... which kicked my ass. I was at mile 16 at 3 hours and I thought to myself, "10 miles in 2 hours - I can do that!" But, dammit, around mile 22, my body just wouldn't go faster. :(

Funny, you post a link to where all your fans can buy the pics. You must be reading all the other threads, good option for all your fans out there.

Well, LA is a very, very poluted city. And since running like that increaces your oxygin intake, you will get a lot of crap down your lounges that might damage you in the long run.
Pun not intended.
