Disney plans to release a 3-D sequel to its classic SF movie Tron in spring 2011, Dark Horizons reported. The Digital Disney 3-D movie reportedly will be directed by Joseph Kosinski.

The studio also has Cars 2, National Treasure 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 4 scheduled for that year, the site reported.

Other reports suggest the fourth Pirates movie may focus on one character to downsize the budget. Other reports talk of a hyper-budget, ultra-fantastical feature, meaning anything from dinosaurs to Jules Verne-esque floating fortresses, the site reported.

Something about a Tron sequel sounds wrong. When it came out, it was high-tech, confusing, new! Now it's got sentimentality and geekiness. A new one just wouldn't be right.

Well there is this part of me that is worried about them destroying my youth.

And another that just went .... OMG FREAKING GOD, this is so awesome, This i think was one of my favorite movies of all time. If they pull this off right, which there is so many ways this can epic fail, but if they can pull it off it might be one of the best experiences in my adult movie going life.

So as you see im a bit conflicted.

I like that they're going 3D. Still trying to push the boundaries.

The only way I could see myself enjoying the sequel is if they made it with the same budget, style, and everything as the first one.

its nice to see the film industry is once again on the cutting edge of original ideas. with such originals just this past summer as spiderman 3, shreck 3, harry potter 5, POTC 3, die hard 4, bourne 3, fantastic four 2, rush hour 3, alvin and the chipmunks, underdog, the simpsons movie, and transformers (just to name a few) its clear to me that hollywood is the place for someone with an original script to be heard.

/sarcasm

when are we going to see the end these stupid remakes and sequels designed simply to make money? where has creativity gone?
