Any suggestions..Im beginning to look into schools and wonder if anyone here can tell me anything. Probably looking to going to med school and becoming a radiologist. As for testing, grades, etc. 2089==SAT, 4.5 GPA. Junior so I am not quite done taking SATs.

Any information on the college you attend, or would have liked to attend is awesome.

I post this knowing that it might just be buried without a single reply but I thought I would give it a shot because I really look to you guys as a group that I can relate to and believe that we all have similar interests therefore maybe you can share with me some knowledge you have picked up on your way through life.

Thanks

You're a smart enough fella. Figure it out yourself.

However, if you can get a full scholarship, go to USC. If you are poor, then
go to your local community college, get a job, live at home, then transfer to a local 4 year college to finish.

What's the max score for these new fangled SATs so that we have something to go by? Also, where do you live?

I'm at FSU right now, while academically it may not be #1 in Florida, I like the people far more than people at UF, FIU, or UM. Our med school is pretty new, we just had our first graduating class the other year, but they are building a shit load of new medical buildings all over the place (new psych and chem buildings). All stemmed off the leading cancer fighting drug being developed here giving us too much money. Oh, and we're ranked as the #1 party school by a few publications if you're into that. But if you're not (I find myself in between) you'll still have plenty of stuff to do and plenty of people to meet.

If you want anymore info just ask.

School of Hard Knockers.

'nuff said.

Just kidding, but with your grades and test scores you could get in almost anywhere! My advice is to travel out of your comfort zone. Move out of state. That will offer you an experience that you will carry for a lifetime, and you'll get to experience the culture of another part of the country.

Wish I had been as smart as you to be able to have even had the option to do that!

Last sentence didn't make sense? Ya' I didn't think so too. D'oh!

film major, right? if not i'm an ass, but here it is:

UCLA is AWESOME. Go there. If you can get into the private cult that is their amazing and totally elitist film program, at least get your shit together and APPLY. They let like 18 people in a year (without exagerration), and I really do think you'll do well there above anything else. You can always reapply as a sophomore and junior there too to the film program, b/c supposedly they let a lot more people in once they've already been going to the school. F F Coppola went there, momma. Do you really wanna go to USC, where they shaped George Lucas to what he is today?

On a side note, while delivering food, I saw Harrison Ford today. I have decided that when I'm 50 I'll also get an earring.

Anyway, USC if you can afford it will probably let you in to their film program. Better connections there too, I THINK. I have friends taht are film majors there and really like it. You get some sick ass assignments.

Loyola Marymount University is a Jesuit university (evil, i know), but their film program is known for being pretty good. Personally, I say unless you've got your own ideas and framework in mind, don't go there. They'll shape your mind into a blindly following lameass. My friend goes that and I don't think he'd be getting much out of it if he didn't already know what he was doing.

Close up next is San Francisco State. You'll DEFINETELY get in and it's as cheap as a Nicaraguan whore. OOOOooo, I don't know about you out-of-state-ies, but it's cheap as **** for us. So I say either way you'll be saving there, and you'll get a really great and independent/creative minded undergraduate film education. You'll probably be best off there as a film major at first. Graduate school is where you can go to the 12903810293812098 dollar Universities. Either way, come to California, it's the place to be.

Brian you really are an ass.

he talked to me about film school on aim and I think he should do that instead. Cause he could always become a radiologist, but exploring your dreams are important when you are young. you're still right , though ;)

He should go to film school. Hey Klitzy go to film school for me, I'm going to live my dream of going to film school through you. So you better do well, I don't want to hear of any half assed projects. What ever school you choose go to some place warm, unless you like the cold.

I'm gonna disagree (courteously) here. I graduated this summer from LMU's art program, and started with Disney the Monday after graduation (sidebar: I NEED a vacation). Anyhow, my experience with LMU has taught me a few things. To over-generalize, there's two types of students there: those (like myself) who got in on scholarship, and work our asses off to wring every drop of education out of our ridiculous tuition; and those who are on Mommy and Daddy's coin, who want to party and occasionally do work. If you're the former, and you're willing to take some initiative, you can get a lot out of the school.

In terms of their film school, I haven't had too much direct experience, but I HAVE with their TV program (housed under the same college). My fiancé graduated with a Bachelor's in TV Production, and was fairly pleased with her education. She decided she'd rather be a teacher, so she's back in for her Master's in that right now, but for what it's worth, she interned with Icon and Nickelodeon, amongst others. Also, LMU's soundstages are very nice. They won't pay for your film costs, a la USC, but you actually own it when you graduate, not a la USC. And if you're at all interested in motion graphics/special effects, Matt Cullen (founder of Motion Theory) is an LMU grad.

And you get random celebrity kids! One of Fonzie's graduated two years ago, I had an English class with Martin Short's daughter, and the wifey had a slew of classes with Kate Albrecht (daughter of HBO's CEO, and a featured role on Entourage; she's Vince's publicist's assistant). So there you have it; there's some good points lost in all that verbosity. Somewhere.

while this may be true about LMU, I said that if you are willing to take initiative it's a good school. I just don't think it's good for starting from scratch, etc., cause creatively, they don't steer you as well in the film program. And in L.A. film schools, you'll ALWAYS have at least one celebrity kid haha.

Whatever ever happened to a 4.0 grade scale and the 1600 max score on the SAT.

Go to a good football school. Worry about all the other crap when you get there.

I'm currently attending Columbia College in Chicago for my film degree. I can't say whether it's good or bad yet, considering I'm in core classes at the moment. All I know is that I love the area and the people are cool. You can always check them out at:

Be warned..their financial aid and records offices are just a tad incompetent...so you'll need to be on top of everything paperwork wise.

NEW SAT! Haven't you all heard of the writing section on the sat which adds an extra 800 potential points to the sat making the new max score 2400. Thank You. Good Night and Good Luck.

Come to Canada? If you want..

I just started at U of T but there's a few other good choices if you want to come up here like McGill or UBC. So yeah, that's Canada.

Yeah, 'cause that's what L.A. needs. One more out of work film director. Save lives or make movies...hmmm.

No, you're right briangilmore. He should totally go into film!

J/K BG, you know I luv ya! :p

Klitzy, as for you, do what you wanna do! :)
