Hey guys, the last couple of episodes dont play on my PS3 anymore! I usually stream it with TVersity(which now transcodes it, stutteringly) or WMP (which just doesnt play it)
Just wondering if Steve changed the codecs or something in the last 2 verions of the large xvid.

I don't think it's them, I think the Rev3 encoders changed things.
I'm now on my third attempt at downloading (HD version goes way to slow at 75K/s compared to the large xvid which downloaded closer to 470K/s....neither of which will play on the PS3 and take forever to convert.)

I realized this too, but I found out the quicktime format works fine. So try that.

Large Quicktime or HD? Does it do it natively or is it transcoded?

not sure if you guys use Mac's or not. BUT if you do...Medialink from nullsoft is a must have application for streaming all of your media to your ps3. I tryed the demo last week and it was able to stream EVERY single video podcast to my PS3 with no problem at all. It's 20 bucks for the full application and its defiantly worth the price.
check it out: http://www.nullriver.com/products/medialink
They also have the same thing for xbox 360....its called connect360

Except I prefer to download straight to the PS3...I still wish they'd make an HD version I can do that with. (I'm not fussy what format, just so long as it's the HD and can be downloaded and viewed on the PS3 without streaming or converting.)

Natively, I just download it through my PS3. And then it plays. Then I laugh.

Well, the HD is a h.264 file, just in the wrong wrapper. They need to switch to the .mp4 wrapper. Or possibly offer HD in another format.
godmode, The PS3 supports h.264, however it doesn't appear to support .mov or .m4v wrappers. I believe all the videos on the PSN are h.264 in a .mp4 wrapper.
Honestly, it makes no sense to me why they wouldn't make the xvid and quicktime (HD even) compatible with both the 360 and PS3. I mean, it's not like they don't have the consoles to test or anything. Perhaps they are testing their encoding to make sure it works, if so it would be nice of them to tell us that they are doing that.

Yeah, i know...but there have been various threads about it complaining but never a peep from rev3. Part of me suspects it's an apple related thing, hence my 'any format' comment.
Hell, I'd be content waiting a little longer for an HD XviD if it meant getting it.

why oh why doesn't the PS3 do RSS feeds like the PSP does? You'd think the PS3 would have at least the same functionality as it's little brother.

I was wondering that too.

That would be a "small" big thing that would increase the podcast receiving ability of the PS3.

bleh...i tried watching the large quicktime, but its really blocky at some parts. maybe its the decoder that the ps3 uses. the large xvid is so much prettier.
