I want to get an iTouch but cannot justify purchasing something additional to my zune. BUT, if I could download shows from Revision3 directly to an iTouch without having to first sync it to iTunes I would be completely sold on it. First, is this possible directly on Revision3 and I'm too re-todd-ed to figure it out on my own (not by streaming. i want to save it for later)? Second, is there a setting on the iTouch to get around the streaming? Thanks!

Correction: iPod touch.
And no, there is no way you can download and save rev3s content onto the iPod without having to sync with iTunes.
I'm hoping that apple is going to release a firmware update which allows you to sync your iPod/iPhone to iTunes without needing to doc it (Pretty much like the Apple TV - Over WiFi)
Does the Zune allow you to download podcasts without needing to sync with its syncing program?

Kind of. If you go to the Revision3 site and select the right video it will download and you'll be able to watch it on your touch. HOWEVER, it's not a download and save sort of deal- you download it and watch it right there in your browser.

just to clarify for those who might not know... "the right video" == small quicktime for iPhone/iPod Touch

Actually, yes it is possible. If you're in XP, you'll have to do some slight registry hacking to get it to show up as a removable drive. That, and you'll also have to have the zune software running at the time. (but you don't have to sync) This is because there is some authentication between the player and the software.

Still, that doesn't change the fact of you having to connect your zune to your PC. You might as well sync it.
The ipod can be used as a storage unit, without any registry hacking :)§

You can sync a Zune over wifi, if thats what you are getting at.
It's screwed up on me a couple times though, so I usually just plug it in. That way I don't have to bother with turning on my wifi on my zune (I keep it off to save battery).

Its possible, but it can be complicated if your not really tech savy.
First you need to jailbreak your touch. ziphone is a great 1 touch solution.
Then you need to put installer.app on you touch. A bunch of good videos on how to do it on youtube.
Then using installer you'll need to install the bsd subsystem and then install a program called mobilecast. Installing programs via installer.app is really simple, just click on what you want to install, thats it.
Once you do that, your good to go. Also now you can install a bunch of other great programs too now.
Also I'm pretty sure doing this voids your warrenty and can brick you ipod if not done propery(but highly unlikely).

Not to mention jailbreaking is sort of pointless now that Apple released the SDK.

Not really. First off, all programs created via SDK must be approved by apple. So many of the less scrupulous program like the NES emulator will never be approved. Secondly, its not coming out till june, so yah, jailbreaking not pointless, nor will it ever be.
Also UMBC is a good school but I perfer the college park campus because of its close proximity to DC.

And more importantly jailbroken apps are all FREE! Apple will be charging $5-25 for apps on the store.

Ugh....no. Apple is leaving pricing up to the developers, the developer charges whatever they want so if free is the what they want then its free.

Still, that doesn't change the fact of developers having to pay $99 to have their products in their store.
To the dude talking about jailbreaking:
I don't think he wants to go through all the hassle. SSHing into the phone can be quite frustrating.
