I graduate from college next week. My seasonal office job ends the following week.
They don't have any openings at my lcs.
Stop and think about this. You need a personal assistant.
Hire this man:

-You can pass a thorough drug and background check
-You don't mind spending a few hours a day listening to me ramble on about my own personal greatness
-You will except Monopoly money as payment.

Can I list you as a reference?Sure. I'm in middle management now. Twice the responsibility for +2% of the pay!
I am important.
I definitely need a personal assistant.
Duties include:
1) cooking
2) helping with my personal grooming
3) answering questions like "does this look infected to you?"
4) listening to my wife ramble on about shit while I'm trying to watch tv/read/message board
References are required. I can pay you in non-transferable college credits.

Paper, you are so hired as my personal slave (a... er...) assistant. The first thing you would be required to do is organize my personal comic collection - first chronologically (by year and comic age), then alphabetically, and finally numerically. When that is completed, then you would proceed to do the same with my West End Comics collection - all 39 long boxes. You would need then to perform other duties as required by me, your Lord and Master (a... er...) employer.

Asking a girl to the prom. Last night she was giving me a hard time about a rumor that I was going with someone else and then mentioned that she didn't have a date. Seemed very much like she was fishing.

That's kind of an odd response in that situation. She didn't elaborate at all about why she couldn't give a definite response? For example, "definitely a possibility... I just have to make sure blah blah blah" Or something like that?

I think that she was just taken aback because perhaps she thought you felt differently based on the conversation you had with her prior to her response. Girls always are reading into stuff they shouldn't and making situations into ones that don't actually exist.
I would not focus as much on her response, but more on what will happen from this point forward. You should ask her some confirming detail, about the transportation you will take there (are you going to rent a car, take the train, etc.), or what color corsage she wants, etc. That will illicit a more firm response and since the information contained in the questions needs to be talked about and decided on anyway, there is no harm/no foul in asking them.
After that conversation you will know for sure if she is going with you or not.

I just love this bit from Chabon's New Yorker Article:
Superheroism is a kind of transvestism; our superdrag serves at once to obscure the exterior self that no longer defines us while betraying, with half-unconscious panache, the truth of the story we carry in our hearts, the story of our transformation, of our story’s recommencement, of our rebirth into the world of adventure, of story itself.
Superdrag, yes.

Just checked out the guest list for Calgary Expo (http://www.calgaryexpo.com), the comic convention in Calgary. Looks like this thing is getting bigger every year. I'm actually excited.
Did we already do the whole, "Calagary? I have a bunch of relatives in that area!" thing? I think we did but I can't remember. I have a faint memory of discussing rock candy, but I have been known to make up memories before. Crazy schizophrenia can get the best of me sometimes.
Just realized that Fred, Paper, and I have formed an iFanbase Megazord of sorts.

Oh! I meant to mention this when I got back an hour or so ago. I was out at the legion, having drinks and a burger. I showed up just for drinks, but it turns out there was some seniors dance going on. So I sat over by the bar, and left the hall to them. Anyways, part way through their "show" the band stopped and said "Jack Kirby, you have a call on line one." I just about shit my pants. I knew it wasn't possible, but I watched the phone steadily for about five minutes. Sure enough, it wasn't him. Still, I jumped. "What? Do you know him?" "No. I wish."
Irrelevant and stupid, but it made me laugh.

We should start some Tu-Pac/Elvis like rumors about Jack Kirby.
"I saw Kirby at a Shoney's in Georgia last week. He was complaining about the Scrapple."
"I saw Kirby in Anchorage last June. He was using a sled dog team to track down some, in his words, 'mad loot that fell out of a plane'."
" I saw Kirby hailing a cab in Hong Kong. When I shouted, "KIRBY!" he paid the cabbie extra to try and run me over!"

I dig your content Cass, always do, but good GOD that's a lot of commas. Do you read over your posts, or is the nature of a blog to you write+submit?
Easy rules:
-Comma means the reader pauses (So english teachers do not balk... pause != comma, but comma = pause)
-Comma before the conjunction "and" is generally not necessary.
-Semi-colon is a pause as well but only used when the two clauses it is connecting are independent (ie - they could be separate sentences grammatically, but are closely linked enough that you want to keep them together.)
-Don't be afraid to make a comma and/or semi-colon a new sentence if it reads better.
-A sentence may be grammatically correct with punctuation and still be confusing.
-Grammar rules are first and foremost meant to serve the reader.
"Anyways, between the walk home, and the hellish extra half hour it took me to close, I was obviously late getting home, and Mad TV just started."
Head 'splode!
I know it's a blog and not a submission to the Writer's Workshop. I just thought I'd throw it out there as a reader POV. Especially because I enjoy your voice; so, I don't want something as silly as punctuation bungling up the experience.

There are two levels of math, here. Pure and Applied. Applied being a slightly slower paced one that teaches some of the same things, but in a different, easier way. It's sort of the lower tier. Pure is fast-paced, "I don't care how you do, just do the work", kind of math. Math is something I struggle with, so I took applied. I got 90%. I thought I would give pure a shot as colleges will barely even look at applied. I'm at a 45%. So, I'm just throwing in the towel. I can't get it.

It is like that with the exception between December and now where its gets too cold for me. Grant it there are those random days as of late where its beautiful out and you can wear shorts then be freezing the next day.. then triggers allergy attacks.. July/August are just outright hot hitting the 100's...

If I worked my ass off I could do alright in it, but I have two other courses that I neeeeed to have, and neeeeed to work my ass of with. I can get into college with the math I have. I might have to go as a mature student, or go to a second choice school, but it still works.

I am fortunate in that : At the moment, I live at home. I do not own a car and do not have to pay for gas or insurance. My dad can usually find some grunt work for me to do at the garage.
I don't plan on being unemployed through to July. I'm just taking two or three weeks off to work on my portfolio. I'll also be moving to an apartment with one or two friends in the summer or fall. I'm very lucky, and I don't take that for granted.

Try working where I do.
"I'm supposed to have $205 but I have $207."
"That's okay, you're only under $2."
"Over."
"No, under"
"$207 minus $205 is $2"
"Yeah. Minus."

Oh. My. Gosh. My last job was data entry, but also phone customer service for a very large travel industry company. My training for latter was basically, "Okay. Answer the phone now. And if you have questions just put them on hold and ask one of us." The problem being, everyone had different fucking answers. I just hated going to one person and knowing what they were telling me was just ass damn wrong. Like when a customer wanted to know if there was air in her room. I asked a coworker and she saw the outlets voltage listed, ***AC, in the room description so she thought that meant the room had air conditioning.
At that point you have a few options. 1)Bite your tongue and tell the customer the wrong information. 2)Ramble in circles confusing the customer so much that they either hang up, or ask for a supervisor. 3) Go ask someone else, right in front of the person you just asked, so you look like a complete asshole.

One guy had been there two years, another a week or two less than me, and both loved to spout bullshit. When I asked a question and knew they were wrong, it was so awkward. With time I came out of my shell. If I didn't care, I let the customer believe the lie. Other days, I would flat out say "Nope, that's not it. Let's go ask someone else". There were a few times I heard them talking to a customer where I would walk up and say "You just lied about that". Most days were the days I didn't care, though. It was Wal-Mart.

Usually I am not the "down with people" type. Today all the batshit crazy stupid people decided they wanted to have a conversation with me. This was tragic.
I'm actually not aloof or haughty at all. Just tend to be absorbed in my own thing. It's not that I am ignoring the people around me. It's just that I'm happy to walk around with my headphones on doing my work or go about reading comic books.
If anyone else were interested in the recordings of The Au Pairs or wanted to discuss Atomic Robo, I would be delighted!
Most people want to talk about American Idol and sports. I can not relate. They are speaking another language.

Yeah. I run the department and there are only a few people under me. It's all computer/technical crap. No need for us to have conversations face to face. A quick IM or email will suffice.
The headphones come off when answering the phone, of course. Most days nobody comes into my office.
