############SPOILERS BELOW############
Ok so i really liked this movie, I think it was well cast, it was very suspenseful and the story is really well told...
Until we get to the end, what in the blue hell?!?!
Ok so in order for her to get her son back, she has to kill herself and hang out with these demon children for eternity? FUCK THAT! Especially when the little Tomas dude slams her finger in the door and locks her in. I'm sorry maybe it's just the american in me but I do not negotiate with terrorists! I think they should have ended it at the point we're she finds Simon's body. That would have made a really good ending.
I'm sure i'm probably missing the point somewhere so please someone explain the ending to me.

SPOILERS**************************
I thought the ending was tremendous. She finds out her actions directly lead to Tomas' death. It seemed like it was going to be about as bleak as it could be, then she finds a way to be reunited with her son. Sure, she's a ghost, but none of the children were evil, and they were all her friends when she was younger. She will now be their Wendy for the rest of eternity. I have to say that the allusions to Peter Pan were excellent. This is one of my favorite films from recent memory.

I actually did like the Peter Pan similarities, especially when the little girl rubs her face, and goes "It is Laura, she's older but it's her" Just like in the movie Hook, I'm assuming it's also in the book, never got a chance to read it. I should...

I just stumbled upon this thread.
The Orphanage/El Orfanato has just had a limited release here in England. Went to my local art house cinema to see it as none of the larger cinema's are showing it.
I thought it was a great flim and very suspenseful. The one thing I didn't understand though was the peeling back of the wallpaper. When she headed down to the basement how come the door had been wallpapered over?
Was this film ever reviewed on TRS?
The ending was good and so was the story.

You have to be joking...this film was a piece of shit. There was no good story telling, and it was completely fucking predictable. As soon as she went into the closet and it had a close up! of the pole pushing against the wall, everyone I was with figured it out already. The acting wasn't too bad, but it was not suspenseful, just really shitty and boring IMO
