Hey guys!
I was at a flee market searching for shit to play with.
Then -It appeared in front of me. One of the ugliest chassis ever. THE MAC G4.
I bought it - for $20.

I thought It was a good deal. I was thinking - "hey, I saw this one on wikipedia a couple of days ago. It said something about 2004. let's hope it is. That retard is selling it to me for such a low price, I bet it's stolen".

It was a 1999 version. Do have no idea how much I hate myself.

Any ways.

I don't know what to do with it.

I want to upgrade things, but I remembered that this isn't a "PC". Can't replace CPU, nor graphics card. (That's what I really want to replace).

Do you know of any good sites that have processors to about 1GHZ?
This is a PPC, obviously. Also, I'm not afraid to clock the shit out of this son of a bitch. Which means, I'm not afraid to bring out the soldering iron.
(I doubt it's soldered)

Tips, suggestions, OS suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Bani-Banan

Some one did not know what they had. you got a bargain. You might think about putting linux on it. ubuntu fedora suse slackware all have installs for it. linux is legal and lots of software available. I use linux on myold mac machines. Somehting I will never regret.

I'm to be honest, not afraid of doing illegal things.

I've done multiple hackintosh computers, I've pirated Vista.

(I now own a license, still using hackintosh though)

Thanks for the answer.

How do you boot from CD on the mac? Holding down the c-button while booting?

Correct, just hodl C button.

Since Apple and Mr. Jobs do not want to support their older apple mac systems anymore, I plan to convert my last working mac ppc g3 towers from os9 and osx to linux also. At least I will still get software updates for a while longer.
