What a great movie! This one was completely off my radar. I went in because I wanted to see a movie and I specifically did not want to see 10,000 BC (fuck Emmerich). I'm not a big fan of Jason Statham's post Snatch films, but this seemed like the lesser of two evils. Turns out that this one was really strong. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks.

I'm going tomorrow afternoon. The trailers didn't look good to me but I know it's got everything it needs to turn out well.

I think you will enjoy it...I love caper movies when they're done right...especially british caper movies...I am bummed that it's not getting very many looks b/c 10k b.c. came out at the same time.

I saw it yesterday and I agree that after the trailer I wasn't really expecting anything more than just the usual heist movie with a clever idea that works flawlessly. Films like oceans # come to mind.
Boy was I wrong; instead it comes across as modern, engaging and smarter than most contemporary heist movies. Being based on a real story helped as well and it's not when you read the “facts” they put up at the end of the film that you get the gravity of the situation. The last film that hit me as hard as that was Bully.
I hope the TRS guys give it a look because I really don’t want to watch 10,000 BC.

I hate to completely criticize your post, but I would not call what Statham does acting. He does not play characters, he walks in front of a camera and delivers lines as himself. From one movie to another there is no variation.
I saw Bank Job yesterday as well, and I would give it a 6.5 to 7 of 10.

I just saw it, I enjoyed it. It wasn't revolutionary or mindblowing but it was well put together and had comedy, suspense, action, and lots of tits. I don't rate by numbers, but I would recommend it, as I saw no major drawbacks.

True of 90% of the people that keep showing up in mainstream hollywood films.

It's the lazy nature of the business I suppose. Typecasting goes both ways, wedging people in and giving people with no talent work. My point was that comparing his acting from one movie to another is like comparing the same brand of peanut butter in the context of different jellies.

I don't see a problem with it. People like that don't get awards or anthing of that sort.
Plus, more often than not, crooks will be somewhat similar.
I would, however, like to see him use a different regional dialect/accent.
